Lyla and the shadowman (AKA Darinn Blackthorn) 's relationship dynamic where GOD tier, against all odd they made it work, she worked on her self and he was there every step of the way in his own twisted way. This tugged at every numb heartstring I had, it even twisted my stomach on the gruesome event that happened in the beginning.
Even the writing was fabulous I did not complain even once, I devoured the whole book in a night and a day's work. couldn't put it down...more

60% of this book was just Crass, disgusting sex scenes, weird unwarranted blood play, glorifying toxic traits of possessiveness/jealousy and then they immediately proceeds exhibitionism, like "ooohh there's my significant other, have your fill and look/fantasizes about them in every way.."
Blaaah fuck this shit, this trope has been overly used lately, if feels like the trend of the year that authors uses to classify their books as dark twisted steamy fantasy romance.
It's not romantic. Please stop.
And to make matters worse there's ZERO progress whatsoever in the storyline, just pointless drama trumped up of awfully made up scenarios by the FMC. We get that you're emotionally traumatized. But apparently you seemed to have accepted your fate come the 14% mark why are you dragging the hell out of this inevitable relationship. Just move on to MORE IMPORTANT MATTERS.

Plus let's not forget the whole weird family tree that this book has going on, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters... it's part of the mythic aspect of the story but I can't -for the life of me - give a shit. I'm just over this.

I find Zade's character very interesting, the guy dedicated his life to stopping human trafficking's and is always reaping about respecting women yet when it comes to our sweet MC he's a deranged stalker that's jealous over the smallest things. Such an oxymore character
he plays mind games on Adeline, stalkes her. spies on her changing her clothes, doing intimates things.
And it boggles my mind how he takes liberty with her life..
plus the scene with the gun ... was that even sanitary?

But what irks me most with this book is Adeline herself, she literally provokes her abuser at every turn and expect a different outcome of what she usually get , which is *drum roll* him assaulting her !
