There are some absolutely honest thoughts in this story, which some of us/women not comfortable agreeing because those remind us so much about the things we try to avoid in our lives or submitted.
When I was judgmental about Leda’s thoughts and criticism towards others and to herself, I noticed that that’s also how I was brought up and taught to think and I avoid those so much that, when I heard an honest, internal thought without filter, it felt repulsive.
It is a vicious cycle and I wished she read the book.
Any woman who read this book might relate to certain parts or wholly if you don’t agree with it at all, hold on to that opinion and ask yourself WHY. ...more

Variety of cases would have made it more relatable to wider range of readers. Main ideas: 1. Mapping Trigger-Behavior-Result triangle usually sets off to a good start. 2. Reward based learning- through updating reward values can break habit loops. Paying close attention to your rituals which became your Default Mode Network. 3. Using curiosity, breathing, mindfulness are effective tools. Replacing one item with another is external. But breathing, being present brings internal change in recorded somatic memory. Curiosity is an innate superpower that is tightly aligned with reward based learning. 4. When in anxious moment, get out of “why is it happening? question loop. It adds fuel to the fire. Your anxiety started somewhere for some reason which that situation probably had gone a long time ago. It is a somatic memory that brings our anxious feeling. Instead of asking why, focus on what is the current feeling and breath to it. 5. Tips on noting, stepping out of auto-pilot mode, practicing awareness continuously were helpful.
Pushing explanations of abbreviations, 1-3rd gears, his anxiety mobile application, weight loss program were a little annoying.

What state do we go into when dreaming? What is the science behind it? What are the potential benefits of using dream as a therapy or a signal and expression of physical and mental state?
-These ideas made sense to me: 1. Common dreams such as falling, being chased, flying could be an evolution’s way of transferring what’s been learned previously to avoid potential danger. 2. Dreaming is also a brain’s way of sorting out daily subconscious recording of information into short and long term memories. When we dream about unemotive nonsense stuff for example: a friend you’d seen earlier that day appears in a funny hat you saw on the street swimming in a pool holding a microphone is a disposal activity to make room.

All living things share basic same code that works as a source of knowledge. Cosmic beings live in different forms but made of same bio-information that they brought with them. I like his idea “Nature communicates in forms and shapes, we ought to look for those patterns to understand its language. Plant teachers are the decoders of that DNA information.
Lot of the ideas were amazing, but later 2 chapters discrediting Darwin’s work on evolution, saying that’s BS & how modern biology is wrong and not going anywhere, but should mainly based on myths and ancient beliefs - were a bit out of line for me....more

Back in time, the line for food, medicine& drugs were blurry. Dung loving mushrooms came to early human scene about 15000 years ago with cattle domestication and same traces are found everywhere around the world. Plants and mushrooms gave us an opportunity to experience higher dimensional perception & chance for self reflection. How did that change us?
What are ancient tales and myths trying to tell about human evolution? Did we do better with Goddess’s partnership culture rather than current alcohol encouraged dominant culture? What do other popular drugs do to life? Sugar, coffee, tea, coca, hemp- Did they shape our lives throughout history? All of these are answered here....more

Researches found out that phone (social media, smart phone, streaming service) is the culprit, the main cause of anxiety filled young adults. They name this generation as the Great Rewiring and many significant research results summed that this has catastrophic effect to individuals and to society.
Phone free& play-full environment is highly encouraged. The idea of smart phone free childhood (at least until 16 ) can be only achieved if parents and school collectively take actions.
With parents support, schools can go phone free, more recess time with minimum supervision which creates space for kids to hang out and learn social skills. They need to know it is ok to fall down, have rough play, try speed, try arguments, resolve conflicts. So they are not anxious about every little thing. Do not rob their life from themselves by controlling and bubble-wrapping every aspect of their life.
If you do not give your kid free space to hang out with friends in person and explore life, your kid will do it in online environment. Pick your battle.

He taught him that admitting a mistake is weakness& women are second class people. The whole extended family tiptoes around grandpa for his approval and money. The author’s family didn’t make it to the cut when grandparents died & Donald got the fame and money. Everybody is pissed but can’t say anything because they want their share from the business.
I was not a fan of author’s point of story telling where her dad and her family were always the victim /oblivious to the fact that her dad was an alcoholic, couldn’t hold a job and constantly whining and relying on the grandfather’s money/ while they went to private charter schools, fancy parties, living in upper east Manhattan properties, owning yachts, and private planes. Well, writing a book to throw Donald Trump under the bus just to accidentally exposing their whole families “self-pitying victimization was not a great attempt.
This whole book is a waste of time. Nothing you’d expect from a “psychologist. Just another angry Trump ranting about nonsense. ...more

Current religions are too institutionalized/far off to satisfy this need. Soul Boom is his proposition of a perfect religion that might just help solve and heal the modern pandemics (separation, mental health). He looked into 10 fundamentals of main religions have in common and tell us why they try to teach you the exact same things while taking a pride in his own Bahá’ faith. The author is an actor, comedian, the book is filled with movies that shaped his childhood, and humor, enlightening Kung Fu and Star Trek references.
