No notes. I actually can't stop thinking about it and I am actively holding myself back from an immediate reread. I wasn't even halfway through the audiobook and I already knew I would be needed a shelf trophy (& yes it's already tabbed and highlighted).
I genuinely believe the less you know about this the better it will be. I went in to it essentially blind and I had no idea what was coming my way. This book blew me away, and I don’t want to shut up about it. Ashamedly, this is my first Sue Lynn Tan book, but when I picked my signed copy up I also snagged copies of the Celestial Kingdom Duology because I NEED SUE LYNN TAN’S BOOKS INJECTED STRAIGHT INTO MY VEINS.

highlights/incoherent thoughts: fantasy stand-alone (never enough of these) fast-paced (non-stop ebbs and flows of emotions) fmc who finds strength in feats other than combat mmc who is down bad (crying in the courtyard) Y E A R N I N G so much yearning like me-blushing-kicking-my-feet-giddy-af amounts of yearning so many twists and turns starting early in the book that make you second guess everything you know and everyone you have ever loved a romance that had me screaming, crying, throwing up strong re-read-ability potential

I must guard my heart. If my defenses fall and a bond forms between us, there will be no going back. Darrvasons mate for life.
Kameer's Mate is the next instalment in the Worldship Brides series that continues to explore the ongoing alliance between humans and the Darravason alien race. As humanity relies on the advanced technology of the Darravason to preserve their ships, the aliens seek breedable human females to restore their population after a devastating war nearly annihilated their own species' females.
I had mentioned in my review of the previous book that I really enjoy that the 4 stories were taking place all on the same timeline, but we were seeing the major events happening from different perspectives. Kameer's Mate is the first to step outside of that and now represents the continuation of the timeline, up to the humans and Darrvasons landing on their new planet.
Kameer and Mandy's story is a continuation of the females that figured they were "safe" from the selection as a mate, in this case Mandy and her sister were set up in arranged marriages with elder founders (like in their 90's elders, ew) to (i) protect them from the Darrvasons and (ii) to help solidify their standing in this new planet. But a chance encounter between Mandy and Kameer derails Mandy's plans...
Touching [Mandy] feels like... coming home. That's the only way I can describe it. An immense feeling of rightness. Destiny.
In classic Sue Lyndon fashion there is a power dynamic between the two, with Kameer expecting an obedient mate and Mandy being "so fucking tired of of males telling me what to do". These are considered dark romance so definitely recommend double checking those content warnings ...more
