This is one of those times where I feel speechless but actually have a lot to say. I had the privilege of listening to this book on Spotify narrated by the author himself, which is so special. I listened to it basically every time I was in the car this month. I usually cannot stand nonfiction much in the way a toddler dislikes vegetables, but will consume them if they’re covered in cheese or perhaps even sugar, in that I really have to have a certain interest to pursue reading it. Mr. Tucci takes his readers on a journey through his life with food as the media for his storytelling, neatly wrapping up the story by the end in much the same way (I won’t give too much away, but I am forever changed, though perhaps only minimally changed as I find I have much in common with him). Life is so beautiful and food is equally interesting and profound, and I find some of us take it for granted too often. Stopping to savor life and food is something Tucci emphasizes in later chapters, though you can practically taste everything with him throughout the book he reminisces so often. It is entirely charming and I am simply honored to be able to have the recipes in each chapter to try. I would simply die to have him collaborate with Alton Brown - I think my world would stop.
