The Battle of the Labyrinth i“You deal with mythological stuff for a few years, you learn that paradises are usually places where you get killed.
The Battle of the Labyrinth is one of my favourite books in this series! I enjoyed all the hilarious moments and action that happened! Percy and Annabeth's quest to navigate the Labyrinth is probably my favourite because I liked how we got to see different mythological beings and so many events happened! The stakes were much higher in this book now that they knew the titan's army is close to invading camp.
I also liked how Rachel played a more important role in this book. (view spoiler)[The best part was when she hit Kronos in the eye with a blue plastic hairbrush. (hide spoiler)]...more

We I wasn't expecting myself to enjoy this even more than the first book! I loved how unexpected the book was and it was fun coming up with theories! We learn a little bit more about Jacks but there's still so many unanswered questions! That ending though!!! So heartbreaking! (view spoiler)[ I hate Apollo so much for what he did, taking Eva's memories like that. He always seemed like a nice guy, so I wonder what happened to him to make him like that? I liked how Amina was a middle age woman, a mom and the main character of the story. It gave an interesting perspective to the story! Really enjoyed the blend of historical fiction, adventure, fantasy and pirates! I appreciated the Muslim representation in this book and how Amina isn't the perfect Muslim yet acknowledges her faults. This made her character seem more realistic and she knows she can always improve. My favourite part of the story was the characters and their interactions with each other! I will definitely try more books by this author!...more
Wow, this book was really good! As of now this is my favourite read of 2023! It gave the vibes of the YA dystopian/fantasy novels from the 2010s. As I Wow, this book was really good! As of now this is my favourite read of 2023! It gave the vibes of the YA dystopian/fantasy novels from the 2010s. As I was reading this, there were similarities between this book and Divergent but I'm glad that the tropes used were the ones I'm interested in reading. Loved the world here, seeing how the riders trained at the school, the commentary between characters and dragon, and the characters in general! (view spoiler)[ I hate Dain so much, he's such an awful friend to Violet and the fact that he read her memories without her permission was so messed up. He basically is the reason why they were sent out to fight the venin to die. Poor Liam! I really liked his character and was so sad to see him dying. The ending was a big a shock, wasn't expecting Brennan to be alive! One thing that did annoy me is the miscommunication trope between Xaden and Violet. A lot of problems could've been avoided if Xaden just told the truth. (hide spoiler)] Can't wait for book 2!...more
