I was so excited to dig into Lady of the Lake. I adored the second book- unhinged Talan is my fav- but I think that set my expectations pretty high. I really enjoyed the first half, the wedding prep had me cracking up. Then towards the end, everything felt just a little bit rushed.
I didn't love the way way our FMC handled (view spoiler)[dealing with how Talan found out about the truth. She wasn't really able to explain her side very well, and it was frustrating. Also can we talk about Serana's death?? I don't think it needed to happen. Considering she wasn鈥檛 present for most of the book if felt like it was just added in for shock value. Viviane's death was so much more impactful given the stakes, but Serana's feels like an afterthought. (hide spoiler)]
Overall, the series wrapped up really well. :) The second one remains my favourite, and I will be re-reading it. I've read there will be a spin-off, curious to see what direction that will go.

"I'm not going to be your mistress, and you should find someone else. You have a ruthless reputation, and these few minutes with you have done nothing to dispel it. Frankly, I'd rather light myself on fire in the courtyard than be the whore of a hedonistic prince."
A dark smile curls his lips. "What a coincidence. That is actually an option if you defy me."
This series continues to be so fun!
I love the Dream Stalker, and it's always so delightful when the MMC is a little unhinged. I am hoping for a little more romantic development in the next book though, but I am curious to see where this will take us, since I'm sensing Nia's loyalties will be split because of her feelings for Talan.
In a way, it made sense that Nia x Raphael's relationship didn't work out. He always cared about doing what was right, whether it hurt Nia or not.
I'm glad Nia didn't spend much time in Avalon tower in this book since I really can't stand the Pendragons. :( I do think Tana, Serena and Darius took a bit of a backseat in this book because of this, so I wish we get more of them in the next book.

She was free. She was in control. She didn鈥檛 belong to Adri anymore."
What a fun series! I love how everything has culminated in this book, and how our band of misfits manage to work together to try to stop the wedding. I love the relationship development for most of the couples in this series so far. Sometimes it feels like things drag or take a step back when a series gets longer, but each book refreshingly moves the plot in a meaningful way.
Thorne and Cress are my favourite couple in this series so far. 鉂わ笍 They just work together so well, and Thorne oozes so much charm that you can't help but root for him. I was not expecting them to lean on each other so much, and it really worked.
I do feel that it's a shame that Cinder and Kai had a real connection in the first book, but throughout this series, their relationship growth feels stunted. Cinder has been masterminding how to stop Levana and Kai has been doing his emperor duties, so it didn't feel like there was much of a chance for them to grow as a couple. I'm hoping the last book will help with that, but I have doubts since Kai will have to go back to Levana and convince her to move the wedding to Luna.
We finally had a glimpse of Winter for the first time! Really looking forward to learning more about her.
