Our FMC Alexis is hilarious and her sarcasm balances out what wouldn’t been a depressing read. And at the same time, my heart ached at everything she went through how she’s so misunderstood. There were times I just wanted to give her a big hug.
The MMCs are so unhinged and it that made everything better. It really helped that we got some of their POVs. It just feels a bit one-sided from their end since Alexis was busy trying to survive the whole book while they practically become obsessed with her. I’m hoping the next book really develops their relationship.
I’m intrigued by Patro and Achilles but I’m not really rooting for them (yet?!). They said some cruel things after they first met.
I really hope Alexis makes them all work for it in the next book, because she went through so much, and after all her suffering she really deserves better. Can't wait until the next one comes out!

(view spoiler)[ I was thinking at the end of ACOTAR that Feyre was really going to need therapy after all she witnessed and was forced to go through. I really appreciate that Amarantha and everything she made them do had a real impact on Feyre, not just swept under the rug. And it not only affected her, but Tamlin as well.
It was really heartbreaking seeing how she slowly withered inside at the Spring Court. Then slowly, she began to heal.

This was the last book in The Bonds That Tie series, and I found it slower than the previous books. Still happy with the way it wrapped things up. :)
Overall thoughts on the series-- I usually shy away from very angsty reads, but I’m glad to have stuck with it. This is my first proper RH romance. Our FMC was holding her secrets and this caused a lot of tension and misunderstandings between our FMC and MMCs. There was a lot of trauma to unpack. If you can get past that, this is a gem of a series.
From Book 4, the pacing slows down by a notch, but I really liked how the characters got the chance to breathe and do fun things despite the impending danger.
Some nitpicks -- I was a little annoyed that in the earlier books, FMC was all like, “omg I don’t deserve them. Girl you got yourself tortured for them. For years! You deserve to be treated this way. You deserve to be appreciated, treasured, and loved. I would’ve wanted to hear an apology from Nox after all Oli went through in the Resistance, but I guess actions do speak louder than words.
I really enjoyed that the series took the time to develop the dynamics in their bonded group even after they've stopped resisting their bonds, and I think the last 2 books really gave it a chance to do that. Overall, this was an angsty but amazing ride. Looking forward to reading more books from J Bree, although if the cliffhangers are as painful as every book except the last in this series, maybe I will wait until they're near completion :,)
OW: books 1 & 2: Nox parades women around their bond dinners. Some flirtiness towards other women in front of our FMC from a few of our MMCs. No more of this after a certain point in book 2 for Nox, and book 1 for the rest of the characters.** (see book 3 notes below)
Book 3 (or maybe 2??) - there is North's assistant, who North doesn't show any interest in, walks into his bedroom, literally picks his clothes and underwear, which really upsets Oli. North gives her a proper dismissal later which is nice.
More info for safety gang: No on-page sex or anything with OW, but implications that this may have happened in the background for only Nox in books 1-2. This is okay with me only because they didn’t really know each other very well and just met again after Oli’s supposed rejection/abandonment of her bonds. Book 2 makes this right.
All the MMCs except Gabe have slept with other women during the time Oli was running away from them. Oli has not, given her past. (hide spoiler)] Separation? (view spoiler)[Not once they meet each other. (hide spoiler)] ...more

I found Sin & Surrender a little slower-paced than the previous books, but I love how it wrapped things up so satisfyingly. What I really appreciate about this series is that I'm always on the edge of my seat when things go to hell, and yet I'm never left with a cliffhanger.
This series seriously feels like a big, warm hug and will probably be one of my favourite comfort reads. I will be working my way through this author's backlist. :D

In this book, Kieran, Lexi & the gang tries hard to recruit more allies before the Magical Summit, and as you can expect, things go in a really fun & crazy direction. They make some enemies and some new friends. And some with questionable intentions. Sin & Lightning really takes you through a wild ride, but for most of this book I just wore a big smile.
I can tell this series will be one I will gladly come back to re-read, because these characters already feel like old friends.

I really enjoyed The Ashes & the Star-Cursed King!
I love the complexity of the characters. That’s probably one of the things that I liked the most with this series, even more so in this book.
I was upset with Raihne after the first book ended, even though I understood why he did it. I’m satisfied with how Book 2 redeemed him. Part of me is a bit sad still, but this book had a way of mending that. (view spoiler)[Raihne didn’t make excuses his actions, accepting that in betraying her and becoming king, he’d lose her.
Actions really do speak louder, and in every other way, he demonstrated that he loved her and supported her in whatever she chose to do. He knew what he had to do, he would do it again, but he also deeply regretted hurting her. Love the contradictions. :,) (hide spoiler)]
Oraya was wonderful as our FMC. She never gave in to Raihne at the start, or her enemies, even when it would have been easier to yield. She both loved her father, but was also angry and confused about everything he’d kept from her. I love her struggle to reconcile the two emotions, and her realization that both of those can also be true. I also really appreciate that Oraya can be amazingly resilient and powerful, but also really fragile and vulnerable. And man did she grieve in this book. She forged those emotions into steel and used them to her advantage.
And Vincent. :,) (view spoiler)[Ms. Broadbent wrote him so well that I can't hate him for his past. It makes me tear up thinking about it. So many mistakes in the end. Never you.(hide spoiler)]...more

Something about the world and mix of characters have really drawn me in. I picked up the 7th book that was on sale before and it's stuck with me so I went back to the first book and now working my way through the rest.
One of the things I love is how it has the perfect amount of possessiveness in a hero that I like, and (so far) they don't really push their mates away. I also like the balance between the danger and the drama, which never felt over-the-top.
I really felt for Rhys and what he went through, but this also felt balanced with the humour from the dynamics with the secondary characters. (I hope we see more of Lachlan and Star!) It also doesn't drag for too long and overstay its welcome.
I'm definitely going to read more from this author. :D Really happy there is more for me to go through on this author's backlist.

I felt like we never got a breather we had Catalina dealing with her heartbreak for after events from the last book, and then we got this growing alien thing in the Pit, plus Arkan targeting Catalina in the mix. It was a bit too much! There weren’t much moments of levity to balance out the chaos, which I think I really needed. I really felt for Catalina and wanted to give her a big hug after it all.
