I loved the characters, especially the strong female protagonist. Even though usually I am not a huge fan of historical fiction, the plot entertained me thoroughly. And the slow burn romance was subtle and heartwarming.
The only complaint is that certain events seemed a little bit too convenient (view spoiler)[in Independence, Lee finds Jefferson "by accident"; Lee's competition for Jefferson's attention conveniently dies (hide spoiler)], but even that didn't bother me much.
P.S. Apparently, some experts also have in this novel. A very thought-provoking perspective!...more
