I’m a fan of Christie’s novels, but she was so prolific that I’ve barely scratched the surface! This exploration of the history of forensics, ChristieI’m a fan of Christie’s novels, but she was so prolific that I’ve barely scratched the surface! This exploration of the history of forensics, Christie’s place in that history and how she used forensic science in her novels was so, so interesting, but from the perspective of a Christie fan and someone fascinated by forensic science.
Highly recommend. This would make a great Christmas pressie for Christie and forensics fans.

‘Sunset� is dripping in grief and trauma and dysfunction and I think I distanced myself from the novel the whole way through to avoid that, and the unlikeable and painfully real aspects of Ruth and Hannah pushed me even further away even as I related to them and felt for them.
It’s an uncomfortable read that pushes you far into the uncomfortable truths of grief and being a young person today, and it’s a spectacular novel, but I found it a bit overwhelming which made me not enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Definitely a me problem, and not the book!...more
Thoroughly enjoyed this! Estelle Maskame’s books are always so much fun and this was no exception. I’m already excited for book two after that ending!

This book explores explore rural poverty with middle aged protagonists, a real rarity in fiction, and a much-needed representation. It’s bleak and intense, but an important read I think. There was a hopeful ending, but it felt so tinged with the desperation, sadness and loss that came before it. ...more
