Dawn's parents had been reluctant for her to go, but her older sister, Ruth, had managed to persuade them. She was so excited, as were all the young people. The crowds were phenomenal; the atmosphere electric; the music out of this world. But the Woodstock weekend changed the lives of those five young people forever...
2010 and fashion photographer Sydney Meredith was heading home to her parents between photo shoots when she received a call from a hospital, stating Sydney was next of kin to a woman called Destiny, who was in a coma. The woman on the phone was bemused when Sydney said she didn't know the woman, and wouldn't be coming. But questions to her parents and their reactions, sent Sydney on the next plane to Santa Monica. And then the secrets and lies, the heartache and confusion, started to come to the surface.
Woodstock is an extraordinary and outstanding historical novel by Aussie author Michelle Montebello which I totally loved! This author writes wonderful stories, with all I've read a hit! This one is up there with one of her best. The characters are so realistic, the time of Woodstock when peace was felt by the crowds, on the back of the horrific war in Vietnam - all came together to create an exceptional novel with plenty of twists along the way. Highly recommended.

When one of Sid Hyde's prized ewes was mauled to death, with him determined to discover what animal had done it, he, along with the villagers, didn't When one of Sid Hyde's prized ewes was mauled to death, with him determined to discover what animal had done it, he, along with the villagers, didn't expect Sid to also be mauled to death. The hunt was on, with witnesses saying a panther was spotted, but of course panthers didn't live in Gloucestershire. Lady Hardcastle and her "tiny servant" Florence Armstrong, decided to do some investigating of their own. But then a second man was killed, and another attacked but not badly injured - his view; a panther. What was going on?
With Lady Farley-Stroud's sister-in-law visiting, and the dislike between them obvious, Flo and Lady H visited often, to temper the fireworks. It was in the woods behind their home that the second attack came about. Lady H was suddenly of the belief that Inspector Sunderland needed to be called, and he arrived with the Bristol police doctor in tow. Time was of the essence - did the two sleuths have their suspicions about what was happening? Could they find the answers before another attack occurred?
The Beast of Littleton Woods is the 12th in the Lady Hardcastle Mysteries by T.E. Kinsey and I loved it. Laugh out loud funny in places - especially the quips between servant and master - with plenty of pace, puzzlement and distraction, this historical cosy mystery was both fun and entertaining. Our two main characters are absolute gems! Highly recommended.

Seren Evans and her five year old daughter Enya needed to escape London and the violence of her partner and Enya's father, before worse happened. LeavSeren Evans and her five year old daughter Enya needed to escape London and the violence of her partner and Enya's father, before worse happened. Leaving her Aunt Alice and Uncle Neil, who had cared for her since she was four years old, was hard, but going back to the Welsh island of Anglesey where she'd been born, had Seren nervous and excited to meet again with her father, Lloyd, the keeper of the lighthouse, whom she hadn't seen in thirty years. The emotion of their reunion was high; Enya was shy and timid, which wasn't unusual for her, but it didn't take long for the magic of the island to bring Enya out of herself, making a new friend on a farm, and playing with the animals.
Gradually Seren, Enya and Lloyd settled into a comfortable relationship, while Lloyd's good friend Jamie from Scotland, was always nearby. Lloyd, Jamie and Enya fished near the lighthouse, Enya excitedly catching her first fish. And Seren found herself a job in an art gallery, while busying herself taking photos of the magnificence of the island, doing what she'd always dreamed of doing. All the while, Seren was desperate to find out more about her mother, Kate, and she knew her father wanted to know as well. Would the secrets of the past and the friendship of the local community come together to give them answers?
The Lighthouse Keeper of Anglesey is the 4th in the Welcome to Anglesey series by Caroline Young and once again I enjoyed it very much. The author paints beautiful pictures of Anglesey and I'd dearly love to see it. The characters are wonderful; caring, compassionate and kind to Seren and Enya, and I especially liked Gwyn and Enya - the innocence of children. And the little kitten named Cobweb - so cute! All in all, a lovely read which I recommend.

Detective Sergeant Bec Harpin loved her little home on the mountain, not worrying about the daily commute into Melbourne, but the night a friend3.5s
Detective Sergeant Bec Harpin loved her little home on the mountain, not worrying about the daily commute into Melbourne, but the night a friend, barrister Carolyn Moorhouse, called her, asking her to come to her office immediately, Bec didn't hesitate. This time the drive seemed longer than usual, but when Bec arrived, and was confronted by Carolyn's distraught assistant, and a dead body lying between them on the floor, Bec was stunned. Why hadn't Carolyn called the police? Did she even know the woman she'd called friend for many years?
When police were called to a small unit in suburban Melbourne by a neighbour, they were shocked to see an elderly woman bound and gagged in a chair, dead. Doreen was a well loved neighbour, quiet and unassuming, and in a nearby unit, actor Nikki Cardone was shattered by Doreen's death. With Bec being transferred to Doreen's death as she was too close to the Moorhouse crime, she and her two offsiders - Wendy and Shaun - worked hard to come up with answers. It seemed the more they searched, the more questions they had...
One Night is the 2nd in A Bec Harpin Crime Series by Aussie author Rozzi Bazzani and I enjoyed the detailed plot, the twists and intrigue, which spread to Sydney as well as around Melbourne and the nearby countryside. Recommended.

FBI Agent Eden Cross returned to her home town of Adamstown, not only to catch up with her family, but to continue her quest to discover her best4.5s
FBI Agent Eden Cross returned to her home town of Adamstown, not only to catch up with her family, but to continue her quest to discover her best friend, Morgan Anderson's whereabouts. Morgan went missing ten years prior, and Eden's whole life from then on had been spent wondering what had happened. She continued to hold her suspicions about Morgan's then boyfriend, to the point of being blinded to anything else. But when human remains were found in the Raven's Lake Mine site, the FBI were brought in. Was it Morgan?
The Collector was devastated his collection had been discovered. All the years of work he'd put in - gone. Would he have to start his hunt again? He couldn't stop now...
The Collector is the 1st in the Eden Cross series by husband & wife team, Aussie authors Bill Duncan and Catherine Lee and although it was a little rough at the beginning, it soon settled into an intense and gripping rhythm. Eden is a feisty character, a little too hot headed, but hopefully she'll soon relax into her role. A read I enjoyed, The Collector is one I can easily recommend.
