Thank you, Crystal S. Chan for the opportunity to read your book. This was an enjoyable read. This is a part of the Manga Classics series. In this book, we got the illustrated portrayal of ace detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner, Watson. I have not read the original Sherlock Holmes series, but I have heard that this was a faithful adaptation to the story. As I did not read the original “A Study of Scarlet, but I thought the manga did a great job of illustrating the story, and I thought the illustrations were great as well. I really enjoyed Sherlock Holmes and Watson’s characters. They were both great, and I really liked their partnership. They were both intriguing. I cannot wait to see how Vol. 2 turns out. I hope that I get to read more Manga Classic stories. Overall, a great read....more

This was an enjoyable read. This is the fourth book of the Hannah Swensen series. I enjoy cozy mysteries like this one. In this book, when her beau, Norman, buys a house from the local drugstore clerk, Rhonda Scharf to tear down to build a dream house for Hannah and himself. Hannah did not expect to find the house filled with antiques and the dead body of Rhonda. Hannah plays detective and tries to solve the murder, and all the drama that follows. I thought this book was a step up from the previous books. I thought the story and pace were better. I thought that Hannah was a great character. However, I wished that we had more in the earlier books about Hannah’s younger sister. Also, I wished that the book was longer. I cannot wait to read book 5. Fudge Cupcake Murder, here I come. I enjoyed it very much. The characters are not completely thought out. I found that very annoying. Rayla is a bit of a paranoid character, even about the darkness and someone following her from the Other World.
Cassie is Rayla's best friend. They are always arguing. However, I know that best friends act like like this, and it was funny to see. I love Luke, and I think he is a perfect guy for Rayla. Can't wait to read the other books. I loved learning about the Fae. Overall, an okay read....more

This was an enjoyable read. This is the first book in the FBI: Houston series. In this book, Taryn Young, who was preparing to board a plane for her honeymoon at Houston International Airport, is one of the prime suspects of the bombing that decimated said airport. Her husband is the other suspect and is missing. The FBI think that her husband is not the man he says he is. Agent Grayson Hall takes the case, and helps Taryn find out what happened, and if this is connected to something even bigger. I thought the story was great. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was suspenseful, and I did like that there was a bit of romance in it. Also, I thought Taryn and Grayson were great characters. It kind of gave me a Bones TV show kind of feel because of the FBI stuff…haha. I thought they complemented each other and I liked how their romance developed. Also, I thought Taryn was smart, and interesting. I thought her character was relatable. I thought Grayson Hall was another great character. He was smart, confident, and sexy. He gave me some “Seeley Booth (Bones TV show reference). I am glad that I picked up this series. I cannot wait to see what book 2 has in store for me. Overall, a great read. ...more

She moves back to her hometown after inheriting her aunt’s coffee shop and house. One day, she finds a body near the dumpster, and starts investigating the death/murder. I thought the story was short. I wish it was longer than 2 hrs and 34 mins, which is about 146 pages. The narrator was engaging and made the story interesting. I thought the mystery was great. Also, I really liked Maggie. I thought she was smart and witty. I thought the ending was great. I cannot wait to read book 2. A Filling Account, here I come. Overall, a great read. ...more

This was an alright read. This is the first book of the 33rd Street Roastery series. I thought this book was not as good as some of the other cozy mysteries that I have read. I thought the story was boring in the beginning. I thought the story didn’t flow smoothly. Also, I thought Paige was an okay character. I really could not connect with her. I thought her character needed a lot of improvement. I did like Margaret a bit more than Paige, but I felt that I lacked a connection with her character as well. I thought the ending was good. The story did pick up by that point, but still could have been way better. I will continue the series to see how the series goes. Overall, an okay read. ...more

To celebrate, she invites a famous author to her store, and when the author is found dead, it is up to the amateur sleuth to figure out who done it. I thought that this story was okay. It was not as good as the first book in my opinion. I thought Tricia was okay in this book. I just felt like her character felt a bit flat. I thought her sister, Angelica, was rude in this book, and I found her character not as interesting. I am curious to see what will happen in the rest of this series. This was an enjoyable read. This is the first book of the Booktown Mystery series. In this book, we find ourselves in the small town of Stoneham, New Hampshire, and are introduced to our main female character, Tricia "Trish" Miles. Tricia owns a mystery bookshop named "Haven't You Got A Clue?" When the store owner of The Cookery is found dead in her store, she becomes the sheriff's prime suspect. Now it is up to Tricia to get to the bottom of who killed the store owner, or she will have to pay the price. I thought that this story was delightful and mysterious. I thought Tricia was a great character. I thought she was witty, kind, and just delightful. She had been through a lot with her divorce, and her move to this small town, but I thought she was an engaging and interesting character. Her sister, Angelica, was a bit naive in the beginning. I did like the sisterly love between her and Tricia. It made me like her more and more as the story went on because I started to see that she cared for Tricia and wanted to help her. I thought this was a great introduction to the series and the character. I am excited to see what will happen in the rest of this series. Also, I cannot wait to read Book 2. This was an enjoyable read. This is the first book in the Agatha Raisin series. In this book, Agatha retires from her job and moves to a village away from London. She enters a quiche baking contest in an attempt to impress people who live in the village. When one of the quiche judges is poisoned to death by the quiche that Agatha bought, the mystery of who done it begins. Was it an accident or intentional? I thought the story was great. The idea of death by quiche sounds interesting to investigate. I thought Agatha was an interesting character as well. She is not what I expected for a character, but she did grow on me. I just thought she would be more sweet is all. I thought the mystery aspect was great. It kept me interested in reading. It was a great introduction to a new cozy mystery series, and I think it did not disappoint. I am glad that I finally got to read this book. I cannot wait to read book 2. This was an enjoyable read. This is a part of The Society series, but features a duet with each couple. This is book 1 of the Wicked Knight Duet. In the Wicked Knight Duet, we get to see the story about Luca Gallo and Donata Salvatore. It is a student-professor relationship with a mafia twist. I thought this was a great student-teacher relationship book because of the suspense and storyline. I did like that there was bit of mystery and suspense to the book. Donata is known for her cleverness and plans. However, she was a bit naive in this book because of her obsession with Luca. I did find her character realistic and authentic. I do find her character strong, witty, but she can be naive as well. I thought Luca was a great character. He is possessive, jealous and sexy. Their romance was great. The suspense was made this book 4 stars for me because it kept me on the edge of my seat.
