So I went back and forth like that for a while until I finally caved and couldn't wait any longer.
I think my favorite thing about this series is how slow it is. This is like book 4 and not much has happened plot wise, but and this is a big but, a lot has happened character wise. This series is character development done to perfection. None of these characters are the same people they were 4 books ago. I love slow and I love character development and this series is perfect.
I loved how much Sin we got in this. I was so happy to see Sirena and him fall in love and I really wanted him home where he belonged. I was happy to see Church let it go and listen to what Sirena wanted.
I liked this new side of Bryce that we got to see. I hope we get even more in the next book, I want more of his story. Cause I have a feeling we don't know him at all.
I liked seeing this darker side of Sirena. She's been so trapped inside herself for so long, seeing her fight back was amazing. Also hope we see more of that.

I didn't have the greatest reading year in 2024. I read so many books I liked but didn't love. So this series was a great way to start 2025.
I loved these books so much. I love this world these authors have created. I'll be starting the next series immediately.
I liked this series better than the first trilogy and that's really saying something cause it was one of my favorites that year.
I really loved these characters so much. I love in whychoose when I love each of the guys as much as I loved these men. Remi will be the character to beat this year. Starting out strong.
I also really enjoyed the story, there was so many things going on, it was a wild ride. I liked that each of the guys messed up. The all had to work to earn Lavinia's trust and forgiveness and man did they grovelled.
I find that often series can start out really strong and then slowly fizz out and then if they're lucky they'll come back strong. This series was not like that, it only got better and better. At no point was I bored or thought it was going to slow.
This is such a great series. It was an easy 5 stars to all 3 books....more

Words cannot express how much I loved this book.
For me there are certain authors whose writing just hits harder. It's when it's smooth, it's poetic, it's thoughtful, it's downright beautiful. And for me at the top of that list is Pepper Winters and J Rose but this...this book just cemented RA Smyth's name on that list. Her writing was all of the above and she earned that spot fair and square.
I went on a 2 hour car journey right after finishing this book and it was all I was thinking about. I was replaying my favorite scenes. I didn't even pay attention to my music lol.
Logan, Royce and Grayson were incredible in this. The way they helped Riley through one of the worst things you can go to as a parent was amazing. They were attentive, always knowing what she needed even when she didn't. And the way they built her up, I have no words. Every man could learn something from those three about being there for your partner.
My favorite scene was at Aurora's daycare. I loved it so much, it'll stay up there among my favorite book scenes.
I have loved this series and I'm a little sad it's over, but I have enjoyed every step of the way....more

This series will be my favorite read of the year, meaning it will beat out a Pepper Winters series and you know she's my favorite author and almost impossible to beat. J Rose has done it though.
This book picks up right where the first ended. I liked the way J Rose wrote the riot. I wasn't sure if we would get a lot from the riot or if everyone would just run immediately. They didn't and I really enjoyed the riot.
Of course we couldn't stay in the riot and when Ripley and her guys finally did run I really enjoyed their time on the road. I loved the character development that everyone went through it was amazing. It's J Rose, her characters always goes through so many things and always come out the other side as new people.
I especially loved Xander's character development. He went through so many things. I didn't really like him in the first book, but man did I love him in this. It took a while but once Xander figured out his feeling and realised his love for Ripley, Raine and Lennox he loved so hard. He did not give up and he fought like hell for them. And I was here for it cheering him on.
Once again Raine continues to impress. I love that man so much. J Rose always writes characters that you just fall so deeply in love with. First Eli and now Raine.
I'm so in love with this whole BI world J Rose has created. I will never tire of reading about these beautiful broken characters. I really hope J Rose writes books for the remaining institutes.
Loved this book, love J Rose. There's a reason she's one of my favorite authors and this book is incredible. Start to finish I'm entertained. I'm falling in love with characters, I cannot get enough.
I will always love seeing previous characters and loved seeing both Brooklyn and her guys and Harlow and her guys. Perfect ending to an amazing duet....more
This book was so freaking good. I'm both lost for words while wanting to say so I received an ARC for an honest review.
Pepper mothertrucking Winters.
This book was so freaking good. I'm both lost for words while wanting to say so many things.
First off I have to talk about Pepper Winters' writing. It's truly beautiful. It's lyrical and gets you into the headspace off each character so effortlessly. Every thought, every emotion, their happiness but more importantly their heartbreak, I went through it all.
Usually when I pick up a book, where it's been awhile since I read the previous book, I'm a little confused at first. It takes me a few chapters to remember everything. Not with this book, it might have been a while since I read the previous one but I was right up to speed because I've been thinking about this series non stop. I've been going through old scenes daily.
My heart was in my throat during that big confrontation. I think I might have stopped breathing while I read it. But my favorite thing about this book was probably that time between the cliffhanger from the last book and the big confrontation. I really wasn't sure how Pepper Winters was gonna pull it off, but of course I didn't need to worry cause she nailed it.
One of my favorite things about Pepper Winters books is that she has the big confrontation every story needs but that's not the end. With a lot of books there's like the confrontation then a few chapters and then the epilogue. Her books aren't like that, and it makes it feel like you get an extra book all for free.
I was really happy these characters got the ending they deserved even if I wasn't sure how it was gonna happen. I am though a little sad this series is over. It's been a clear favorite of mine this year. I'm off to start yet another Pepper Winters series cause I need more from her....more

THIS WAS...OH MY GOOOOOD...WAUW...JUST WAUW.
This was ah-mazing. I love J Rose's writing so much. It's no secret Blackwood Institute is one of my favorite series. In fact I must admit the only reason it's not number is me having a sense of loyalty to one of the first book I've read.
I was excited to see how J Rose was gonna add another series to the BI world. This wasn't what I imagined it was gonna be. It was so much better. I'm very excited to see how it plays out as the story runs parallel with everything that happened in the original series.
J Rose always writes the most amazing characters. Raine. Raine oh my gosh I love that man. I think I loved him from his very first scene. I loved how in this we got so much Ripley and Raine and not a lot of Xander and Lennox. It made me fall for Raine while keeping me really intrigued about the other two. And then of course we finally got more from them there at the end so now I can't wait to see more.
This was simply flawless. The plot. The characters. The writing. Don't get me started on the writing, J Rose is such a talented author. Everything Ripley went through with who she was, who she was willing to become and whether or not she could live with her actions. I was there for it. I felt every emotion and I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next.
That was a big cliffhanger so I really hope it won't be too long before the next book....more

I really thought Jeremy was gonna be my favorite in this series, I didn't think anybody could beat him. Enter Nikolai freaking Sokolov. He went and knocked him right off the podium.
I liked Nikolai in previous books but I LOVED him in this. He was hilarious, he had me laughing right from his first chapter. He and Bran were so great together.
I love when I love both characters in a romance book equally. Which is exactly what I did with this one. Nikolai and Bran couldn't have been more different but they fit so damn well together.
Nikolai was into Bran right from the beginning and he did not give up until Bran was his. If Nikolai had given me the same treatment he gave Bran I too would have given in and fallen so head over heels in love with him. That's exactly what I did.
I'm gonna be adding this book to my list of hat tricks. Favorite guy, favorite couple and favorite book.
Pretty sad this book is over cause I really loved listening to it. It could have been twice as long and I would not have gotten bored....more

It's so freaking good, I've loved it so much but now it's over. My heart is breaking, this wild ride has come to an end and I have to say goodbye to these characters I love so much. I always measure how much I love a book by how many books I wish were in the series and with this I would love 10 books. I could not get enough.
This is probably the book where I loved Decker the most out of all the books. My heart was in pieces both because of him but also for him. He so thought he was doing the right thing but he could not have been more wrong. I did really enjoy watching him grovel though.
Once again Kylian continued to impress. He is definitely my favorite, although I really love all 4 boys. I love all of their relationship, not just with Jo but with each other. Each of them have such a strong bond with Jo.
I'm so happy that I read this series on my kindle instead of waiting for it to be an audiobook because I've loved highlighting my favorite things the guys said. Now I can go back and re-read my favorite quotes.

Dean is such a sweetheart and he's hilarious. Which is really the best two qualities.
I loved him and Allie together, they were really cute. Their banter and the conversations they had had me rolling with laughter. This book is so much fun. Dean was such a sweet boyfriend. I enjoyed this book so much, I was really sad when it ended. I could read about these two for weeks.

I love these guys so much. Why-choose is at it's very best when you love all the guys. It's not an easy thing to do but Abby Millsaps absolutely smashed it. I love each of these guys.
Kylian is still my favorite, I don't see anything changing the love I have for him. He could turn out to be the devil in disguise sent to earth to destroy us all. And I would still love that man.
I was very surprised about Kendrick. I didn't like him at all in the first book but here he is sneaking his way into my heart so fast I didn't see it coming.
I highlighted the effing heck out of this book. Actually I think I highlighted half of everything Kylian said. But honestly all the guys had so many amazing quotes.

They're all one the football team, when one day she witnesses completely by accident something they shouldn't be doing. I enjoyed this book so much, I read it in two days cause I could not get enough. Jo was a great heroine, she was strong and so caring and loving.
My favorite thing about why-choose is when the author manages to create 4 guys that I fall in love with and that's exactly what Abby Millsap did.

He will forever be one of my all time favorite characters I've fallen in love with. Cause my God what a man.
Winter is definitely my favorite female character by Penelope Douglas. The amount of research that must have gone into writing a blind character was amazing. Cause Winter was amazing, she was strong and never let anything stop her from doing what she wanted.
I really loved Damon for never underestimating Winter. He never once saw her as someone less capable of doing things. Which of course she wasn't but I imagine blind people struggle with others not giving them enough credit. I really liked how the author portrayed Winter.

Again I thought the decision not to give Sirena that many chapters was a brilliant move on the authors part. It added so much to the story that we didn't know much more than the guys did. I loved it because it stands out among so many other books. Usually books are mostly from the heroines pov.
Oh Stitches. Oh Church. Oh Ashes. I still love you guys. Especially Stitches, my heart broke for him. The guys went through so much in this but even still their love for Sirena never wavered.
I'm not sure yet if I should love or hate Asylum. I think I like him. I might regret saying that but for now I really like him. I'm really curious about how he knew everything and the riddles he speaks in added so much suspense about what is gonna happen in the future. I thought he was really well written. Actually I thought all the mental health aspects were really well written.

This book has so many twists and turns. Just when I think I have something figured out KG Ruess goes and pulls the rug from underneath me. You never know what's gonna happen next or exactly what's going on. I think that could easily make a book confusing or make you loose interest. This however does none of that. KG Reuss has you on the edge of your seat, but also so completely enthralled and obsessed with the story, that you just have the best freaking time.
Stitches is still my favorite. He went through so much s*** in the previous book, I really enjoyed seeing him find himself again and maybe even forgiving himself a little.
We finally get Sirena to talk. Once again I liked how the author waited this long for her to talk. I'm sure having a mute heroine was difficult to write at times, because typically dialogue is what moves a story forward. So I'm actually really impressed with how that was done.
That ending was crazy and proved once again that I didn't have it all figured out.
I know it will be some time before the final books are released so I'll just be waiting impatiently....more

I have been wanting to read this series for a long time but didn't because the last books aren't out yet. But then I saw a video on KG Reuss' instagram and I knew I couldn't wait.
I loved the mental health representation in this and thought the author did a really good job writing the characters. I especially loved that in the beginning Sirena didn't have that many chapters it was more the guys, but then as she started communicating more we got more from her pov. I thought that was very cleverly done by KG Reuss.
I had a hard time picking a favorite guy, I loved them so much. I really went back and forth between who I loved the most. I think maybe Stitches won by like 2 millimeters. I will say I didn't love Sin all that much, but I did see where he was coming from and his reasons for doing what he did.

This series is so perfect in so many ways. I'm always nervous to read the end of a book because sometimes it just isn't as good as the rest of the book. But this, this ending was perfect. J Rose is truly an amazing author. She wrote the perfect ending for these characters, it wasn't easy and it wasn't all roses but it was perfect. That wouldn't have fit with the rest of this series if the ending had been easy and cheesy.
I can't believe this is the end, I would have loved for this series to go on forever. I'm pretty sure there's an E forever carved into my heart thanks to Eli. And Seven, what a man. I'm so glad we got to see more of him.

J Rose is an absolutely amazing author. Brooklyn's descend into Augustus' madness was an incredible read. I spent all day counting down the hours till I could read again, cause I could not tear myself away. Her writing makes this such a thrill ride, with so many amazing quotes and one hell of a soundtrack.
