This audiobook has great narrators for all of the characters. In true Freida McFadden fashion, this story is pretty straight forward, like Stephen King's story, Misery, until it isn't. You think you know what's going to happen and why and you've got it all figured out. Well, I'm telling you that you probably do not and will totally enjoy this suspenseful thriller....more

This story takes place in a small New England town where nothing ever happens. That is, until a teenager from the local high school is found dead in a farmer's field. This audiobook was well narrated, and when the dead girl started narrating parts of the story, I started thinking about the similarities to 'The Lovely Bones.' I'm not really one for the supernatural but, as with 'The Lovely Bones,' it just worked. I enjoyed the fast pace and the way the story unfolded, pretty confident as to who didn't do it and there were still some surprises....more

So, six book influencers, writers, all get together in some secluded rental house in nowheresville Kentucky. And, guess what? The towns people are odd, the Uber drive, THE Uber driver, yes, there's only one, is odd, and the neighbor's are odd. It takes a while for me to keep the three male and the three female characters straight, and about 30% in, something finally happens, or did it? Then, the drama picks up and by the time I finished, I just wasn't wowed by the who's and the why's and it just kind of fell flat for me. While I've enjoyed many of Kiersten Modglin's audiobooks, this one isn't one I'd recommend....more

So, this one starts out with a jumble of incomprehensible sounds. And then, the narrator explains that her cat has walked across the keyboard so many times, she decided to let the cat write the dedication, too funny! And, it turns out, that was the best part of the story. If you are looking for a pleasantly narrated short story that's not too deep and easy to follow, this may be the one for you. The whole story is 2:39 minutes or about 2 hours on 1.3 speed. The author talks about reading the grave stone for someone whose burial was two weeks earlier, really? I think on average it takes at least 6-12 weeks to have a headstone installed over a grave, has anyone heard of this being done in two weeks? Silly story that started out promising and just fizzled out....more

When your parents leave you alone for an evening with your 13 year old sister, nobody could fathom the grief and guilt that changes this family forever. That night, a stranger abducts the older sister, never to be heard from again, that is, until she returns, sixteen years later. This is a psychological thriller that messes with your head and what you know is what you know until it isn't! Do I think something like this could really happen? Well, maybe not to this extent, so just suspend reality and enjoy this thriller with all its twists and turns. The narrators did a great job as well and I will be reading more from Dandy Smith....more

Having myself had multiple visits to private colleges for parent's weekend, I was intrigued. Right from the beginning when five students do not show up for dinner with their parents, I decided to suspend reality and just enjoy the suspense and mystery of what exactly happened. As the chapters alternate between the families and you learn more about the students through their families, Alex Finlay draws you in to their lives and relationships. This twisty suspense thriller kept my interest and was a quick read. Did I already mention that you need to suspend reality? I would like to see the author write another story that includes FBI agent Sarah Keller and her family. May 2025 Pub Date....more

This might be my favorite Freida McFadden book so far. I got so involved with Sydney and her boyfriend issues that I was actually stressed out like she was a real person! The story is told by Sydney, present day, and then other chapters go back to the high school days of Tom, his best friend Slug, and Tom's childhood crush on his friend Daisy. When Sydney's friend Gretchen's boyfriend comes home with an ant hill, well, oh boy (IYKYK). This audiobook really got my heart pumping, once you get involved in their lives, you will not want to put this one down until you're finished....more

Oh what a nice story this is going to be, after not speaking to Maggie for three years, Frank gets a call from his daughter. She is getting married and wants her dad to be at her wedding. Well, as you can imagine, things don't go as planned, especially when a body washes up on the shore. The author has a way of grabbing your attention and pulling you in. The suspense builds as the chapters continue and the audiobook narration is well done. #netgalley Oct 2024 Pub Date...more

When Anna goes to the rundown apartment complex where Henry rents a room for inspiration for his painting, Anna can't believe Henry is dead - and that he took his own life. As Anna struggles to find out what happened to Henry, the story becomes a web of intrigue that involves the other residents of the complex. The narration is really good and the author seemlessly weaves multiple stories together in this fast paced thriller....more

This audiobook was quite the page turner, does that make sense? Having read and enjoyed 'The Plot' I was quite intrigued as to how the author is going to spin a sequel. What happened previously in 'The Plot' is skillfully woven into this story triggering your memory. This story revolves around Anna Williams-Bonner, the wife of the late best-selling author, Jacob. Anna also writes a story of reflection after Jacob's suicide which also becomes a best seller. Anna has her life all neatly tied in a bow until she doesn't. When things start to unravel for her, she does her best to keep her past hidden. I loved the mystery and suspense created as Anna tries to untangle a mess seemingly coming from beyond the grave. Great narration in this audiobook as well....more

This was such an enjoyable thriller to listen to, it kept my attention as the story evolved. Three childhood friends reunite for a weekend in the hamptons and overdo it, a bit, yeah, maybe more than a bit. The story is told through childhood flashbacks to when they all were at the same summer camp, two of them teenagers. The twists and turns just kept coming, I have to say this is my favorite story by Alafair Burke so far....more

This story is crazy! I think it's my favorite by Alice Feeney, so many twists and turns, you don't know what's real! The story is about a married couple, he is a writer, waiting for his wife to get home, she's late. Not only is she late and he's not happy about this, but on her way home, there's something or somebody in the road and she stops to see if she can help. That's the last her husband sees of her, she never got home to hear his news, and months later, he's got severe writer's block, and has to move because he can no longer afford his rent It's just a nightmare for him. Little does he know, his agent will come to his rescue but, should he accept the proposal? The audio was well done with the many different voices of the characters....more

This is the third story with the characters of Lily Kintner and Henry Kimball, which I really liked from 'The Kind Worth Killing' and its sequel. In this thriller, Martha calls her college friend Lily for some help when she suspects her husband of some crimes. When part one ends, well, oh my, I'm not spoiling it for anyone, but, wow. And then, part two ends with another zinger. I just really enjoy Peter Swanson's writing style. This is one of those books that you just can't put down, yes, you're going to lose sleep! June 2024 Pub Date, the audio version is well narrated....more

I really wanted to watch the HBO Max series so I downloaded this audiobook to listen to. It certainly started out with a bang, a flight attendant with a bit of a drinking problem hooks up with one of the passengers on her flight once they land in Dubai. She remembers a bit of dinner, some great sex, maybe another woman joined them for drinks earlier? Did she leave at some point before she blacked out? All good questions that need answers because, when she wakes up the next morning, the man in her bed has had his throat slit and is dead. That's the premise and boy is it a complicated scenario. I have since watched season 1 that starts off the same, except they are in Bangkok, and after that there are a few general similarities. Both were enjoyable, confusing at times, and entertaining....more

That night changed Ethan's life because, when he woke up the next morning, the tent was slashed and Billy was gone. Flash forward 30 years later, Ethan's parents are relocating from NJ to FL, and Ethan is returning to his childhood home on the cul de sac in Princeton. Now that he's back, he really wants to find out what happened that night and the unfolding mystery is a good one! The narration was well done and I really liked Ethan and the way the story played out....more

I read and thoroughly enjoyed 'The Last Mrs. Parrish' quite a few years ago and still can recall the narcissist husband, wife Daphne, and evil Amber. Back in October, I was fortunate enough to spend some time with the Constantine sisters at a book event. They gave me a novella they wrote called 'The First Shot' which is Amber's story, which I loved. This book, which comes out this summer, is a continuation of Daphne's life. It picks up with Daphne, her daughters, and her mom happily living on the west coast and her ex-husband, Amber's husband, Jackson, currently in jail for his white-collar crimes. When one of Daphne's daughters tries to get to Connecticut on her own, without telling her mother, Daphne realizes she is going to have to travel east and let her daughters spend time with their dad. Has Jackson changed? Is Amber happy now? Will Jackson welcome a relationship with his daughters? Well, you'll just have to find out for yourself in this wild ride deceit....more

This was a great suspense thriller. Sarah Pekkanen weaves a lot into this story. A nanny dies. The couple who live at the house are divorcing and a lawyer is sent over to help decide who should get custody. Oh, and dad's mom lives with them as well and it's the wife's money that supports their living style. On top of all this, the nine year old is no longer speaking after the trauma with her nanny. And, is it possible that the assigned lawyer was assigned because of the trauma she witnessed in her own life? There's lots to unravel is this story and I enjoyed every bit of it. Aug 2024...more

So, this one starts out with a group of seven friends, hence the title, but that's where the trouble started for me. There weren't seven friends, really, one of them is a girlfriend of one of the classmate friends that nobody else really knows. Then you have the missing 'eighth' character of Bea, Darsi's sister and everyone's school friend who is no longer with them. It seems she passed away, Darsi told them, and there was no funeral, no service, no closure. So, I of course am thinking that she didn't really die. That's just what I was thinking and I'm not going to tell you if I was right or not, you'll just have to read it to find out - or not. It took a while for me to figure out the characters and I never really got to the point where I cared about any of them....more

I really liked this story once I got involved with the students, mainly Addie, and her teachers, Nate and Eve, who are married. It's junior year and Addie did something last year that got a teacher fired. While waiting to see what happened there, typical bullying stuff is happening at school and really affects Addie. I liked how this story played out until I didn't. I looked up if Ravens can be sold as pets (but I'm not going to tell you why) and found out that it's illegal to sell them and have them for pets. With that information, my rating went down to two stars. If you read this story or listen to the audiobook, which has good narrators, you'll know why I lowered my star rating....more
