My favorite new author of 2024 is definitely Kathleen Norris. Her vintage romance novels are full of everything I love: cozy and descriptive details about home, clothing, food, and nature. There's always a bit of a twist in the story, too, which is fun—sometimes it's expected and sometimes not. But, I love that about her writing!
Wife for Sale was an interesting story (although a tad unbelievable in one or two aspects) and I enjoyed every minute of it. The only reason I didn't give it a higher rating was because I felt less connected to her main characters than I usually do. I still thought the novel was great, but it was missing a deeper element that Kathleen Norris' books are generally known for.
So glad I was able to buddy read this book with Andrea (@sorrythankyou79 on Instagram) and I can't wait to chat with her about it. So far, I've been in love with this author's books and I hope that streak continues!
NOTE: Wife for Sale has a wonderful Thanksgiving chapter and is the perfect read for November!...more

I loved reading these books by Wende and Harry Devlin when I was young. This story was all about the start of autumn with lovely, colorful illustrations, selling antiques and Staffordshire dogs—there's even a cranberry walnut bar recipe at the end.

There is just so much to love about this colorful coffee table book—delicious recipes, beautiful artwork and lettering, inspiration quotes, crafty ideas and a sparkling and cozy voice that is unique to Susan Branch. I love everything about it!
I breezed through the book very quickly because it was so fun and interesting, but I'll be leaving it out to flip through during the months of September and October. My favorite section was the very end with all of the warm sweets and drinks to make...perfect for enjoying along with a handmade blanket and favorite book.
All of Susan Branch's books are magical, but this one really won my heart. Love love!! Highly recommended!...more

This is my first experience reading a book by Antonia Forest and I really liked it. This Girls Gone By edition is informative and fun to read, though I do wish my newly published edition hadn’t arrived damaged and also that the print was larger.
But, besides that, I was definitely interested in the adventures of Nicola, Lawrie, Ginty, Ann, Rowan and Karen. Mostly, the reader follows the twins, Nicola and Lawrie and how they adjust to a new school (Kingscote) with new friends, new experiences and finding out more about themselves.
Laura Purcell is wonderful at creating atmosphere and it really shows in this new novel. If you are intrigued by Shakespeare, theater life, tragedies and betrayals, this is the book for you.
Sadly, this wasn't quite the right book for me, but I still enjoyed it. My favorites are still her first four books. I love them all!
NOTE: I was disappointed that this new book did not have that same narrow, chunky hardcover style as her first four books. It looks very odd next to the rest on my shelves and I'm not sure why. It's the same publisher (Raven) and I just adored the designs on the first three books. I wish publishing companies would be consistent when they are creating books for the same author. ...more

This is another incredibly cozy, interesting and lovely book about Tasha Tudor to bring happiness to the soul! I savored every single page and photograph in this book over the past week. I could have finished it a lot sooner, but I loved having another chapter to look forward to after a long and tiring day. If ever I feel out of sorts and things don't feel right with the world, a book about Tasha Tudor (or a book written by Gladys Taber) can truly rejuvenate my spirit.
I'm also a crafter and creator in my life, so everything that Tasha was interested in is interesting to me. I haven't done any weaving or sculpting, but I have many hours of experience with knitting, crocheting, painting, sewing and making dolls. Everything about this book brought a spark of light into my heart, as well as into my mind.
The perfect book to settle into during the autumn season and, even better, followed up with Forever Christmas with Tasha Tudor. Absolutely loved this book!...more
