I don't have the words to describe how absolutely perfect this is. Hands MY VIDEO REVIEW IS NOW LIVE:
That was INCREDIBLE!
I don't have the words to describe how absolutely perfect this is. Hands down the best book I've read this year and one of the best books I've EVER read.
I loved the first book, but Crooked Kingdom took the bones of Six of Crows and gave them life. Not only is it the perfect sequel in terms of expanding the world and further developing the themes and characters, but it can absolutely stand alone as it's own story.
This series has just about everything I could ever want: an intricately developed fantasy world with well rounded and diverse characters, complex romantic and platonic relationships, social commentary on humanity and society, and meaningful messages about love, family, and morality, all wrapped up in a beautifully written and compelling plot.
There were so many moments throughout this book where I started crying because of how much some of the themes and characters resonated with me. I can't even begin to express how happy I am that this book exists.
Nothing has ever rivaled my love for The Night Circus, but Crooked Kingdom might just top it.

This book is by no means perfect and I don't think it's for everyone. The world could have used a bit more development, there were some plot 4.5 Stars
This book is by no means perfect and I don't think it's for everyone. The world could have used a bit more development, there were some plot lines that deserved a little bit more attention, and it's pretty meta, so if that isn't your thing, you may have a tough time with this.
But
This is genuinely one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read. I cried, I laughed, I texted my friend screaming in all caps, I cried again.
Carry On is Rainbow Rowell's take on the "chosen one" trope, and I think she tackled it brilliantly! It was clever and witty and down right hilarious. This book was not what I expected in the best way possible.
If you're anything like me and prefer character based novels over plot based ones, I think you'd enjoy this, because this book is all about the characters. Every single character is funny, three dimensional, and flawed, and I love them ALL (don't even get me started on my love for Baz because I'll never stop). There were so many fantastic relationships between the characters, but above all else, I LOVED the romance. The romance tore my heart to pieces, and I don't think I'll ever recover, but it was absolutely perfect.
Also: I never thought I'd say this after Twilight, but this book actually made me like vampires again.
I loved the progression of the story in this book! It definitely read more like a fantasy compared to the first book.

It expanded so much on the world and the mythology which was definitely my favorite part. Again, Lia's character development was amazing and I feel like we finally got to see her outside of the love triangle, which I loved.
I still don't like Kaden and after this book I don't think there's any redeeming him for me. But Rafe, Rafe is good....more
