Liv is normally a quiet girl with many insecurities which increase ten-fold when she meets the others in her travel group. The girls are stunningly gorgeous and the guys are unbelievably hot never mind that everyone happens to come from ultra rich backgrounds which make Liv feel self conscious of her own humble family background. The group is allowed to drink alcohol although they are all under twenty-one so of course everyone drinks too much especially Will who happens to get into a nasty argument with Liv where he becomes very cruel and spiteful to her the rest of the evening so Liv leaves the party and goes to bed.
Liv has many disturbing dreams during the night and the next morning she finds out that after she left the night before, apparently Will became violently ill and was placed in quarantine with no further explanation. Liv becomes friendly with a couple of the others but can't seem to enjoy herself without Will on her mind and she also notices that her group and a few others seem to be the only young people on the ship. All the other guests appear old not older but elderly (Can that be right?). Liv feels a wrongness about the cruise ship's guests and almost every staff member on board where she daydreams certain images of strange creatures taking the forms of humans while her nightmares about Will and a few others become so twisted that her sanity is being compromised because she sees things that no-one else can see and her visions or whatever they are absolutely incredulous so that no one believes her stories. After several struggling days without any factual updates about Will and dealing with her living nightmares, Liv just wants to get off the ship and go home. No matter what she's been told, Liv knows something insidious has.been creeping within the passengers and there have been many unseen threats toward Liv which she finally realizes that her entire group is in danger and all their lives may be in jeopardy unless some people are involved in being part of a most incredibly, heinous and evil plan that is unimaginable by any normal human being. Where and what has happened to Will? Can Liv find anyone to believe her and help her to get off the ship? Is this luxurious cruise ship haunted or is it one way cruise to hell through the water leaving no survivors during this doomed voyage?
This was a fun and entertaining young adult horror story although I think it will appeal to a mature audience overall. The writing and storytelling were wonderful. Liv was a fun character and could be nerve wracking at times but then I'd have to remember she was a teenager without any life experience behind her so it would be.normal to continually create chaos and make impulsive and poor decisions most of the.time. The visual aspects of the creatures were scary and horrifying and just perfect for being in the middle of the ocean. All the characters were completely detailed and so expressive that I was truly surprised and impressed with this author's "Amy Goldsmith" writing creativity. This was a unique shocker of a well-done horror novel and I hope to read more of this writer's books in the future. The humor imbued into the story was spot-on to break up some of the most frightening situations and it was definitely a solid horror book with many science fiction elements so it will not be for everyone but I highly recommend it to all horror readers if you're interested in some teenagers as the main characters and their experiences throughout the story.

Professor Pendergast has been devastated since Constance left him and adamantly told him not to follow her but he fears her life is in serious danger from the most evil of men (Dr. Leng). So Pendergast takes Detective D'Agosta into his confidence and tells him they will be taking a trip like no other because they are going to travel back in time to the year 1880 and there is is very good chance that none of them will make it back to their present lives.
What an incredibly good book this was. The storytelling and characters are so intelligent and believable that I felt as if I was walking inside their reality. This book would make a fabulous movie due to all the wonderful, descriptive telling of the scenes taking place in the 1800's from their style of clothing to the way they spoke in New York city during that time including all the sights, sounds and smells of things we could never imagine having to deal with today. Some events sound fun and interesting but there are so many other things that we take for granted today. I could never imagine having to deal with so many indignities, never mind that women are second class citizens with men still ruling the world . (Ugh!). I love the research that Preston & Child utilizes in writing their books since a novel that could seem silly and outlandish becomes a masterpiece with world building and detailed, descriptive nuances to each character's form of speech and also their physical mannerisms. This book was entertaining, thrilling, mysterious, intriguing and non-stop serious fun while still being very dark and dangerous. The only problem I had with this terrific book was the ending, a CLIFFHANGER! I just wish I knew that before reading the book. Yes, I would still have read it but I wouldn't have been left with anger and frustration. The next book is still being written so I can't wait to find out when it will be published because I will be impatiently waiting just like so many other fans who are also waiting. I read this as a stand-alone and it was wonderful but I would suggest reading the previous book first to give more background on the characters.

Out of nowhere a new disease is quickly rising to pandemic status worldwide. Where did it originate from? Scientists are working day and night to find answers and a cure as the population is attacked seemingly, randomly. Hospitals are overflowing because patients check-in but they never check-out. When a person is attacked by this disease it is sudden where they immediately become stuck immobile whether they are just sleeping, walking, driving a car or any daily activity yet they are completely conscious of their surroundings. Why is this happening? If scientists don't discover answers soon they will also be struck down by this unknown pathogen and then the world could end in a matter of weeks.
This was a frightening novella which was well-written and entertaining. The author "Stephanie Ellis" created a story that was imaginative, realistic and oh, so terrifying. The length of the book was perfect instead of having a long drawn out medical drama rambling on and on. This is my first book by this author but certainly not my last and I highly recommend it to any reader who enjoys a good pandemic story although I found it quite horrifyingly scary when I thought if this pandemic became a reality. The good news though, this was a fictional horror or science fiction thriller. PHEW!

Harriet Kealty happens to be in a book store when she discovers a scribbled note written inside the book she purchased that said "Help he's trying to kill me". Harriet decides this is not a prank and decides to make a case to work on that would utilize her detective duties. Her research brings her to the home of David Asha, his son and a man named Ben who she had not seen in over a year and may have been the love of her lifetime but when she finds David and his wife had suspiciously died, she realizes that Ben is the prime suspect in their deaths and he is now the legal guardian of little Eliot and Harriet is worried about the boy's welfare and possibly his life. Nothing makes sense in this case so Harriet decides she must follow all the leads because if Ben is guilty of harming Elliot's parents then he may be a possible serial killer!
This was an intriguing and strange story where nothing is the way it appears although the reader will not know this until the end of the book. The story was engaging and I kept thinking I knew what was going on but nothing could have enlightened me to the crazy (good) fast-paced last quarter of the book which I just couldn't stop non-stop reading. I have to admit I never read a story like this one because it sucks you in as a slow moving love and crime story gone amiss. WRONG! The author "Adam Hamby" brought in a wonderful science fiction edge that was unpredictable in every way, shape and form and I mean that literally as well as figuratively. If anyone studied physics in school then they will have a wonderful understanding of some of the techniques that were applied in the last section although the writer did a great job of making the ending easy for everyone to appreciate. Please make sure you read this novel until the very end or you will be missing out on a true rollercoaster of a most unusual quality and everything will be fully explained in the end. There were some problems that were not quite answered for myself (being picky) but if the reader just accepts the book as it was written then this will be a wonderful and possibly an unforgettable book that will take them on a journey of loss, heartache, mystery, sadness, adventure and the most fantastical journey into what the meaning and power of what love could truly be.

Nora only believes in science and cannot even remotely wrap her head around the possibility of "little green men" or any type of extraterrestrial activity. It defies her logic as a competent scientist although she feels there could be ancient Indian artifacts buried within the area and with Tanners passion for his project she reluctantly agreed since she was out of a job anyway. Shortly after they begin their excavation they find the remains of two bodies that seem to be clothed in the fashion of the 1940's around the time of the "1947 Roswell Crash".
Nora contacts her friend in the FBI Corinne Swanson to come out and take them through the next steps involved of discovering an old crime scene so they may continue their work. Unbeknownst to the team they are being watched but by whom? They had the government's approval to conduct their dig at Roswell although Tanner feels there may be a mole within their camp. Before long one of their top scientists goes missing when he feels they are digging in the incorrect area and then they discover something unbelievable that is buried underground and just when they are ready to unmask their find a couple of military helicopters and several jeeps immediately flood their campsite armed with many guns and these soldiers are not friendly and have plans for the campsite and Nora's team that they could never have imagined and maybe some won't live to find out what is behind the discovery and why they are being invaded by their own military.
This was a very exciting and fast read (I couldn't put the book down). I didn't realize this was a third book in a series because it was terrific as a stand-alone but now I am interested in reading the previous books to get more backstory on some of the characters even though it's not necessary to understand and enjoy this action packed thriller. I highly recommend this story for any reader who has always been interested in the famous "Roswell Crash Incident" since it was extremely entertaining, fast-paced and interesting. Preston & Child seem to put out many great thrillers and I hoe to read many more in the future.

Aerospace built three huge wind turbines nearby three of the families included in the lawsuit claiming they are having serious side effects from these turbines including sleeplessness, headaches, inability to concentrate plus several other complaints that are quite bizarre. Marriages are also falling apart due to the unsettling effects from the turbines.
Oscar thinks this will be a an easy case to wrap up within few days after researching his findings and writing his report while Still enjoying some quiet time for himself on the island. The locals don't take too kindly to off-islanders so the job doesn't go quite as easy as Oscar had hoped but he is used to dealing with difficult people in his profession although he never expected some of the strangest stories and theories about the "Shadow Flicker" effects having on the people and animals living closest to the gigantic windmills until he rents a vacated house in the turbine vicinity and then he begins to feel some of the side effects himself but still can't bring himself to believe some of the other preposterous stories told to him. What Oscar discovers while still being an unbeliever brings him in contact with some very nefarious people and he will then be put in a fight for his sanity as well as his life while there's a good possibility that Oscar may never make it back home again.
This was a wonderful creepy, slow building yet continuously eerie story that I thoroughly enjoyed. There was plenty of horror, supernatural and chills and thrills especially in the second half of the book which really speeds up and I just couldn't read fast enough to find out what would happen next. All the characters were well fleshed out especially Oscar, a flawed man with personal issues himself yet never letting them interfere with his work or his compassion for others. This job on the island will test his mental and physical health beyond boundaries that he never thought he was capable of overcoming while only wanting to leave Kidney island and never looking back, although that might not be possible for this insurance investigator. Gregory Bastianelli does a wonderful job as a writer creating a uniquely different type of horror story that the reader will be left shaking their heads and will really enjoy that they will not be able to predict any of the outcomes in this book since It was so well-written and plotted out. Pay attention to every character because they will all play another part in the last thirty-percent of the story. That element alone deserves a 10 for cleverness! I am a fan of this author and I highly recommend this stunner of a book as well as his other book "Snowball" which I have never forgotten.

Within a twenty-four hour period it will be a survival test for all that no-one was prepared to handle even with the most advanced weapons in their arsenal because the monsters on board this ship have only one thing on their mind and no one will be safe even if they are allowed to survive!
I just loved this book. There is action from the first several pages and then never stops. The characters drew me in whether I liked or despised them and I couldn't wait to find out what each one would do and how they would handle the entities aboard the craft. I was tense throughout the story and it never let me down with all the thrills and spills never letting up. The writing was excellent. I could envision everything in complete detail what was taking place and was feeling emotional, disgusted, angry, fearful etc. I love when stories can elicit many feelings about the characters and their situations. I can't wait to read more books similar to this so I guess my next read will have to take place in space as well. If you enjoy outer space books or shows don't hesitate to read this book. It was just so much fun in a gory, horror filled way (Yay)!

Ryland has just awakened from a several year, special, medically induced coma and it will take awhile for his memories to filter back to his brain. Ryland remembers he was a middle school science teacher and loved his kids (students), so why would he above all people be on a rocket ship? He had two other crew mates but they died while in their comas so he is frightened well as feeling completely alone without understanding why any of this has happened. Slowly, Ryland's memories return and bring some devastating information back to him while also realizing that there is only a certain amount of time left before earth will be destroyed by lack of sunlight and his mission was to find out the cause and send that information back to earth before it's too late. How could the fate of humanity be dependent on a teacher who has no idea how or why he was chosen for this mission and he can't imagine volunteering for anything so deadly since he wasn't a risk taking type of person (that he remembers). Is there anyway Ryland Grace will retain all his memories in time to complete his mission, nevermind learning how to operate the ship as well as finding out he is running out of fuel? To find out these answers and more you will just have to read this fantastic, mind-boggling book.
Ryland Grace was such a wonderful character. He was a scientific genius who settled for teaching because he was afraid of failure and rejection within the science community The story is an amazing adventure into space and how astronauts live and function aboard a space craft. The writing was brilliant and entertaining although very complex at times because there is an enormous amount of science and mathematics equations involved but the characters handle all the confusing configurations, so all you have to do is sit back, read and enjoy. Andy Weir is a phenomenal writer who has the ability to understand complex science yet he can break it down in ways that any reader can understand and relate to everything that is happening in this fantastic story that is very hard to put down and by the time you are finished you will be so pleased that you had read this book.

This was a very intriguing book for me. I went in blind and at first I thought "oh no" a futuristic sci-fi book, since I'm not a big fan of certain science fiction stories. I am so glad that I gave this book a chance because it was terrific. The story was a little bit of everything including being a thriller, mystery, suspense, adventure, science fiction, even a touch of romance (not much) and so much more. The book was very well-written with great character development and I really ended up loving this book and I now want to read the first book in this series, but this was definitely a stand-alone story and was fun and easy to read. In the 1930's an archaeology team and a "National Geographic" photographer are on an expedition to find some undiscovered tombs and their secrets while following up on several failed expeditions where none of the explorers returned except for one who was found wandering around in the desert a year after his team was declared missing and he was completely out of his mind with these strange carvings on his skin from head to toe so he had to be immediately institutionalized. Where was he for the past year and what had he seen and heard that caused him to lose his mind. His granddaughter Imogen who is also an archaeologist will be on this new exploration hoping to unveil some of the mysteries of what happened to her grandfather and his missing team. The new expedition started with around 50 people including laborers who are needed to dig and some military to help protect the team physically and also the treasures they hope to discover and bring back to the museum. What could go wrong with a team so well prepared and looking for scientific answers to their queries, never expecting that when they don't heed the ancient warnings written on the walls of the caves deep within the mountain that they will encounter unknown horrors that they may not survive mentally or physically and each person will realize that you cannot even trust the people that you have known and trusted for years.
Wonderful storytelling by Brian Moreland. I truly got lost within the pages of this well researched and beautifully scripted book. The word building just had me feeling as if I was on this trip with the team experiencing everything they were seeing and hearing. The story starts off slowly but intriguing and it gives you a realistic take on the cast of characters and you will care about some and dislike many but you are excited to find out what happens to all the players in this great ancient mystery horror. This book was so intriguing and I was very impressed with the Egyptian history and the mythology that was so deliciously versed in this book. Great follow-up book to Nathan Hilliard's "Nightwalk". I feel Nightwalk is a must before reading this new book since a few characters and "Others" are reintroduced and readers will have a tasty reading experience with no confusion on this great walk into horror. The story begins 2 years after the first event and is fast-paced through to the final page. The book is definitely a horror story with many light and comedic moments, which I really appreciated. I felt the first book has more tense moments of terror due to the fact of unknown surprises and shocks continuously happening. Not to take anything away from this book, but it is more of a sequel, so I had expectations and I was fully rewarded with new horrors.
