Overall, it's a not-so-bad read, works for an audiobook to listen to while doing chores, driving, etc. However, it's nothing memorable. ...more

It tells the story of a woman who finds herself taking care of children who catch fire on their own (hence the ugly cover). I liked the characters alright. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator changed voices between characters which was annoying. It's obviously fake. Still, I enjoyed reading it especially since it's short. Not something I'd usually read but I'm glad I'm discovering more fiction books through audiobooks I would've never have read otherwise, so that's definitely a reason to appreciate audiobooks even more. ...more

It was one of those novels that became instantly popular, only to fade from everyone鈥檚 radar a few months later. I wanted something inspired by Greek mythology, and since I already had Lore on my Kindle, I decided to read it. The premise sounded promising though I was cautious about its average rating.
At first, the book was a lot of fun. But somewhere along the way, despite the fast pace, I started to get bored. I'm not entirely sure why; maybe things got a bit repetitive, or as several reviewers mentioned, readers needed some room to breathe.
That alone didn鈥檛 bring my rating down to three stars, though. What did was the ending鈥攊t felt abrupt and underwhelming. After all the build-up, I was expecting more, but we didn鈥檛 even get an epilogue. The romance also fell short for me, especially as the story progressed; it just didn鈥檛 stand out. Lore and the cast of characters were likable, though.
Overall, I enjoyed Lore and finished it quickly; it was better than I expected. However, the repetitive feel and the lack of engagement in the second half kept me from fully enjoying it. This seems like a miss since the story itself was good....more
