Everything in here was mild, no one was being creepy enough for me to call them out on it, no one was scarry enough to be frightening, and nothing was romantic enough for me to get those vibes either. Everything was just there and happened. The description hypes the story up way more than is dementated here and I'd be curious to see how volume two escalates things but right now there is kind of just nothing. ...more

I do remember that I enjoyed it so when I saw my library had a bunch of volumes of the manga I thought why not revisit it. And it is really fun. Everything about the time period, setting, and characters is so interesting as someone who loves video games. I know nothing about arcade fighting games but this is such an interesting medium to learn about them through. I’m also excited to see how the relationship between the two main characters develop as I can see the legs of a greatness here. ...more

The cover and description of this title really drew me in, they both just seemed so exciting and action filled. And reading the first little bit it really does seem to be an action filled story. All that extra rambunctious crime and detective work that I really love in a TV show is here. I was hoping this would be fun like and bring the vibes of shows like Stitchers or Grimm. Which it kind of does. But the main take away I have after reading this is that it was boring. I know that feels so counter to what I have said, its a book full of action how can it be boring? To tell you the truth I don't know, it was just boring. Maybe the character were a bit flat, or maybe it was something else. I just know that it did not hold my attention and it took me forever to get through, it was kind of boring. I'd pass on this one. ...more

This first volume is certanly that, a first volume. It is a lot of character and setting build up, but from what we can see here it looks like all these characters are going to be fun. A solid plot hook was put in there at the end, but it will really depend on if you are intruiged by the characters weather you choose to stick around for more. I will also give this book points for actually catching up to its opening scence within the book, usually it takes webtoons way longer to pay off thoes points. ...more

The premis... Its just so not that serious. I just did not like the execution of the premise. It is so teenager in the bad way that I don't like anymore. Sometimes teeenagers completly fine and dandy, like this though NOPE.

The experience of reading this was like thumbing through old vogue patterns while Frank Sinatra sings My Way and there is an Audry Hepburn film on. It feels Vintage, in the most aesthetic of ways.
As for story, I suppose there is one in a very abstract kind of way. This whole thing is a series of snapshots of Him and Her, though they don’t have names but they are reveled to us at the end in a littel about me kind of panel. Which was very surprising to me because the girl had my name and was my age, a little freaky since I was not expecting it, but that will earn the book a cookie.
Read this if you are of the classic persuasion and want something nice and slow. ...more

And I can gladly say that this one did land for me. I for one do like a good detective story, though it feels like it has been forever since I picked one up, so I really enjoyed this hyper-meta take on the genre. I also felt like with all the fourth wall breaks that this book needed me to be constantly paying attention lest I get left behind or twisted up in the past and present. I once heard someone describe the show as "A Soap Opera for Children" and that has really just stuck with me, so when I saw this at my library I just figured it couldn't hurt to pick it up.
And it was very cute, exactly what you might think of for a set of short Chibi adventures. In fact it reminded me a lot of RWBY Chibi, if any of you remember those. How the normal RWBY show was all high stakes action and combat but the chibi shorts were just the characters all acting extra goofy and light hearted, its exactly that vibe. ...more
