However, maybe it was because I had rough weeks at work, this took me way longer than I had anticipated. The other two books, I flew threw. I struggled with it a bit. Not that it wasn't relevant or not engaging but something.
Or maybe the problem was, I got the audiobook and for some reason, it flew from chapter 8 to chapter 17.
Yep, I got spoiled for the entire story thereafter. :|
It is a complex review to be honest. I was almost on the verge of DNF-ing when I read a little more about it.
Then I was intrigued and I started over It is a complex review to be honest. I was almost on the verge of DNF-ing when I read a little more about it.
Then I was intrigued and I started over (again) with this book.
I will be honest, the second time, maybe because I was more aware or maybe because I was not reading with my tired eyes... this hit me hard. I was crying.
Maybe that's why I was expecting it to be something out of the world. Something really great! But was it?
Not realThis was so hyped up! I can't even.

Not really. It fell flat for me. It wasn't bad, I did laugh, or chuckle, so let's just say it was okay. Really just okay.
The main reason: The chemistry was non-existent. They hated each other one moment and were all up onto each other the next. Didn't do anything for me. I was just like oh all right, now we are fantasizing.
The second was the pacing, either nothing was happening or when it happened it just resolved way too fast... I am like uh.. okay? What?
The good things in this book were about how they talk about mental health, abuse and to live with chronic pain and that's about it.
I didn't enjoy it as much. A lot of times I was in a little yikes state with the whole Clary and Jace thing and to top that Simon was a lil annoying bI didn't enjoy it as much. However, the last two chapters redeemed it and got me back on the track!...more
It was cute and fun and made me miss 'Jane the Virgin' like a lot.

Also, it did make me go back to when I was on shoot sites and was an assistant director. Hmm, tho they were taxing back then, I do miss them now when I think of it.
About the book: I did enjoy the cute banter and all the characters, however, I did feel it was over the top and some scenes could have easily be omitted and or not added to the book because it had no relevance. Sometimes, it felt like it was put in there to show conflict/ add character depth, which in all honesty was not doing it but only making me read 10 pages extra.
The story arc hits you twice and I guess the impact would have been stronger if it went from A to B and not okay this happened, let me resolve this and then the big reveal, which left me with oh god but then again, it will get resolved just how A was (it didn't go the same route tho, THANKFULLY!)
Also, towards the end - just please end it, why do you have elongate and bore me to death?
And that's all about it.
Oh one more thing, it's not a review or a bad thing, but did anyone else feel that the author made sure of the fact that we noticed on how much effort they have put in to add diverse cast and oh and the character growth? ...more
