black goo aside, this book was both hilarious and also kind of hot. which i'm ashamed to say.. but when am i not being a nasty little freak on goodreads. this isn't truly a 5 star read but it's been a second since i've had one and this book at least kept me entertained....more

i REALLY love when contemporary romances are diverse, honestly it's what i'm looking for these days. i like learning about different cultures/religions especially as it relates to romance. but the family in this book was so exhausting and frankly shitty. i was initially so into the idea of second chance romance but sooooo little emphasis is placed on the hero/heroine connection. it's mostly about this heroine trying to balance respecting her family and gaining her independence. which is valuable certainly. but as a romance, i think this falls a little flat :(...more
