If you haven’t read book 1. You need to read book 1. I don’t want to give to much away if you haven’t read book one. But you will not be disappointed. I think I said this in my review for book 1. But I usually don’t read fantasy. But these two books took my heart ate it and spit it out. This book took me a little bit long. But I wasn’t rushing through this tragic and heartbreaking story. And the twists and secrets and other things I don’t want to spoil. OMG Each chapter had me saying what the heck. Now I love different POV for each chapter. I have to say there are characters from book one that still have my heart in this book. I think my hold for these characters are super strong and special. In return for my honest thoughts and review. Third I absolutely love this book so much. That half way through I ordered my own finished ebook copy. I wanted to take my time reading this book. I didn’t want to miss anything while reading. This book is definitely on the favorites of 2023 list for me. The characters and the world development amazing. There were a few times and characters where I thought okay they up to something. I loved that each of the girls personally very opposite of each other. Hannah personality gave me that she doesn’t need anyone and that she a strong person. Which is okay to have. But had a bit of attitude with Cammie and Sabina. I am sure she was never always like with them. I feel maybe she is that way because she lost her mother when she was younger. Only left with her dad. Cammie and Sabina seem very closer to each other. Just by the way Sabina came to Cammie when she needed her. I enjoyed each POV from each of the girls. Caelan was bit of a mystery person. I didn’t expect him to be a big piece of this story. I loved his overprotecting personality. But I also felt very sad for him. Watching so many die around him. This book has so many turn and twists and mystery. It’s definitely a page turner. And I world that you get sucked into. I can’t t wait for book two. And what becomes of these characters. This is the second book that I have read from this author. Just like The Vengeance of Samuel this book didn’t disappoint. I always enjoy a short and packed historical fiction and romance. When I do read books about WW2 at times they are hard to get through. I felt like I was down there with Jonas has hearing these people terrible stories. When Jonas was in the his and Ava hiding spot. A little beat up boy comes in and tells Jonas that his father turn him and his mother in. For them being Jewish. The father started a new family. Because the father wasn’t Jewish. That is going to be with this kid forever. I loved Jonas heart and how he was listening to the people being rescued. I felt so sorry for these two Ava who always grew up believing she was always something else. Jonas always believing the people around him. Jonas unaware of the terrible things that were going on in the SS army. He truly believe that he and his father were doing the right thing. How many lies Jonas has suffered through once he realized the truth. This book is amazing but it will pull at your heart. Just has it mine. I am definitely continuing to read more books from this author. Her books are short but they are packed. I highly recommend this book. These characters will be ones I don’t forget. I just knew that I loved the title and the cover. I love the characters and the world the author created. I really enjoyed this book. Heck even half way through I ended up buying my own ebook copy. I was already highlighting oh no you didn’t moments. Even through this book took me a little longer to finish. I was bored or disappointed reading this book at all. Definitely will be adding more future books from this author. Carly is a 17 year old character who is very relatable to the now times. I really felt bad for her. With her parents always fighting about money and forgetting important things. Leaving Carly to do for herself. Friends who she thought were friends hurting her and making her feel less then. And doing crappy things to her behind her back. She started not caring about or learning not to care of what others thought. Even her mother trying to be this fake person. To please others in the neighbor or community they lived in. I just love Alex and his family and friends are so funny. Friends and people that would love to hang out with all day. I had so much fun reading this book. I would wanted this book to never end.

I too thought the choices I was making were right or I didn’t have a choice in that moment. When you have plans for your future mapped out. Something changes where all your plans are out the window. I couldn’t put this book down. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. When I requested to join this Booktour. The writing and journal format amazing job. Lottie had me in tears too. I wanted to hug her tell her it’s going to be okay and don’t give up yet. Henry is a jewel he never gave up on Lottie at all. When you are met to be you know. That you breathe and sleep that person no matter where you are in life. That was Henry and Lottie. This book is a book that I will definitely be rereading. There characters will be ones I remember. That epilogue was short but had me going to the restroom to cry. Heck this book might just have put me in reading slump. The only and the only character that I wanted to hurt was Danny. OMG I cant believe him. Yes Joe Henry older brother was bad. Danny was such a you know what. I could talk and write about this book all day long. I must admit that I ended up buying my own copy almost through the first half. Once I got started reading I couldn’t put this book down. Yes this book took me a little bit longer to finish. But I couldn’t just speed read a book like this. While reading feeling so many emotions that I have never read or heard about these women before. I definitely I will be adding more books from this author to my tbr. I love the writing style. And how the author told Catherine story so beautifully. Now knowing that these weren’t just characters these were women fighting for justice. My heartaches reading Catherine story. How much she fight until the end for her children and for others. I couldn’t imagine how her heart felt being so young and going through all this. And no one believing her and her coworkers. I have deep sympathy for Tom her husband. Not listening to his family about marry Catherine. But always stood by Catherine side until the end. This definitely a book I will always remember and hold close because these women fought. And it’s apart of our history. The part of this book I will hold close. Is Christmas reading Catherine listening to the radio of President Roosevelt and the hymns being sang. It’s almost like I was there watching her laying in bed hoping and praying for miracle. There were so many times I had tears in my eyes reading the worst Catherine got. It broke me. Even when she lost friends of the poison that was killing her slowly. Now I feel like I must read more and learn more about these beautiful women. Definitely a book favorite of 2023 for me. Usually audiobooks take me awhile to finish or even get through them. So I am so happy that I signed up for this Booktour. The characters and world the author created amazing. Kate losing her job and the man who she is caught messing around. Side note they both of should have gotten fired. The nerve of the company to take credit for all her work. Kate losing her half sister. Now she has to be responsible for her nephew Teague. Who I admire even though he doesn’t speak to people. Just the people he hears and the paintings he does. I love how Kate wanted to find out what the causes of what is wrong with her nephew. Love the family history and family dynamics mystery and drama. And even learning genetics and they are passed down. ( even special abilities) This is set in dual times 1920 to 2003 New York and Ireland. and different POV of views. Which to some get confused reading/listening to books like this. I absolutely love it. All the characters are very relatable. I do however love the talk of mental illness and schizophrenia. Also special visions/ this site. Seeing things or events before they happen. I really had so much fun listening and the unpredictable and mysteries that unfolded. I am definitely going to be adding more books/ audiobooks from this author. Highly recommend this book over and over. Definitely a 2023 favorite.
