I had a wee bit of book amnesia but the details were cleared up in a way that didn't bog down the story or feel like a retread and yet I felt that any readers new to the characters would be able to understand things well enough.
I devour anything to do with Greek gods and so I was thrilled that she's gone back to them now that the Lux series is complete. The weaving of ancient gods into modern settings is done well and I enjoyed the characters.
Future request for more Deacon because he's adorable.
To be noted: Armentrout writes some seriously steamy characters - and that's with the YA shackles on. In the New Adult category, those shackles come off and gives her some room to work instead of having to skirt around things to please the censors. What I enjoy is that she didn't lose her ability to write seductive, racy scenes with the free reign to write as vividly a love scene as she can imagine. She keeps the tease, she keeps the hints and the ust, she leaves you wanting more. A huge issue I've had with New Adult novels is that they lose the ability to create heat without being blatant and just describing the act when there is so much more to be had.
Are these books perfect? Nope. Does it make them any less enjoyable? Nope....more

My seventeen year old self would have revelled in the drugs, and sex, and disaster of it all. My seventeen year old self would have greedily absorbed all the heavy handed prose and illogical twists of plot. My seventeen year old self would have adored "Love in the Time of Global Warming" and thought herself so clever for doing so.
My twenty-seven year old self, however, was far less impressed. The prose seemed pretentious in its heavy-handedness. For every truly beautiful line, there was a line that made me roll my eyes. Yes, there are beautiful, angst-ridden, post-apocalyptic teens having sex, experimenting with drugs, and becoming confident in their sexualities - but this lovely bit of happenstance is only masking a weak retelling of the classic mythology.
Overall, the book was too fast and loose with the fantastical. I have a great ability to suspend belief for the sake of literature, but this was too much, too loosely tied together.

I desperately want to read in Nico's view point. He's so mysterious. I enjoyed the bit of development with his character. Clearly, Riordan has been reading the fanfic....more
