(Review) - I have always been 50/50 with self help books they either change my world or they don't work because im already doing what they are teaching me or they are just pants really! But, this being the gold standard I was quite excited and willing to give it ago, so I went into the book as i do with most books like this with my glass empty and ready to learn. And what made me smile was to find that I was already doing what this book taught naturally but also there was loads that i wasn't doing and this book not only tells you what you should do, but it gives you a few real life examples and inspires you to give it ago, the book tells you to read a chapter, put the book down write notes and try it in the real world before you carry on. This book truly is the gold standard and for me knowing i was already following it's teaching and this book spoke about them so specifically it made me feel better about myself and showed me how to hone in and tune those skills to be better then they was. I read this one over the weekend and I haven't been able to fully use these new skills yet, but when i do i will let you all know. But as of now i fully reccomend this book, if you feel like you need it then give it ago what else have you got to loose?

(Review) - You know I've spoken about this before but I still regret not getting into the discworld when Pratchett was alive as i could appreciate his work better and be excited for what is to come. But sadly i didn't so i can now see what was is next to come in the series and for a long time i sat and got kinda childish in a way as to "why did Pratchett focus on this charecter Instead of rincewind" or other characters, i just couldn't understand why Tiffany was so special and why he focused on her so much toward the end, but now I think I finally understand, after reading the first book and this one I get it, she is the next generation of not just the discworld world but also the witches, she's doing things that are new and different, she's having thoughts that could change how the discworld functions. The world is set for change and i have to imagine that if Pratchett had wrote the discworld for so long and changed things here and there, that he would want a new charecter for the next generation the 21st century to really reflect that change and to bring in new ways of doing things. Tiffany Aching is a special lady and one that really has me excited to see what she does next, the first 2 books where really setting up who she is as a character, but by the end of this she has found her footing as a witch and what that means, so following on from this I can see nothing but bright things from her and the discworld.

As the FBI agents investigating the "X-Files" cases the bureau has deemed unsolvable Mulder and Scully pursue the truth wherever it leads, even into the labyrinthine corridors of the FBI... and beyond.
(Review) - hindsight is a beautiful thing, it allows you to see things more clearly from an angle you never thought possible! And in hindsight now having lived in a world with covid and lockdown, no book about a deadly virus may should be read the same way ever again, as we all have our own experience and fears of it and what happened. And for me this is the experience i had. When a deadly new virus has been found that infects quickly and then turns the body into goop, only one team can solve this case. And another fantastic X-Files story, the author handled the subject really well, close to how it actually happened, the small town was on lockdown, everyone was tested. Now obviously this is X-Files so the true cause of this virus is more out there then just a simple man made viruss, but still makes it ever so real with hindsight and technology advancements, we are not there in tech yet but possibly by the decades end! Now I had always heard rumours that there was a bit of truth laced into the show, that the writer had a contact in high places that would drip feed him things, so with the knowledge of man made virus, could the other twist be possible now or in the future, well i guess time would tell, but I can say this one virus outbreak is enough for one life time!

(Review) - A good old fashioned historical adventure, no aliens or monsters just historical times and people with a really interesting 5 children and It type of twist near the end. I loved it, a great adventure with the 10th doctor and rose, the doctor isn't completely Tennant-ish and there where times he felt like Christopher Ecclestons version, but i put that down to the book being written and published before season 2 came out so people wasn't to know how David would play the character, only how RTD wanted him to be and act like. Which is here in full you can see the sparks of that silly humour and that twist of the dark side of the doctor the time lord victorious type. But im sure as the books go on more of Tennant will shine through and will feel more like him so i can't really criticise the book for that. Afterall you can't really be mad at a book that shows you the doctor in the arena fighting a lion, you don't get any better than that! So overall I'd say that this is a fantastic historical adventure that I really enjoyed and I can't wait to read more adventures with 10 and rose. So allons-y!

(Review) - I have been putting this off for a long while now, mainly because how do you write a review about a book that you have absolutely no idea what happened in it? It's impossible, even after listening to summary videos on youtube, im still all not that wiser! But i figured i can't leave it any longer, i need to at least write something so here are my thoughts. The first book was 1000x times better than this book, It was more centred and an interesting case study into how to develop characters organically to make you care for them but also to make them feel real! In this book it's all out war but done in the way of "war and peace" very long winded and boring! The beginning pulls you in as your back with the characters you love and then the middle is just a load of boring Meh! And then when the end comes with loads of time travel i was lost and confused. And it was really a shame as this world is so incredibly fascinating and i adored the first book, that this one just couldn't keep up the momentum! Funny thing though, i am willing to read the next book in the series, the reason being it's set thousands of years into the future of this world, so that means a new beginning, a new story, new characters so I can potentially fall back in love with this world again, so there is still hope for Hyperion yet.

"Ozzer" cuts off her blonde braids, dons male garb, belches, scratches, and masters macho habits - aided by well-placed pair of socks. The legendary and seemingly ageless Sergeant Jackrum accepts her plus a vampire, troll, zombie, religious fanatic, and two close "friends". The best man for the job may be a woman.
(Review) - Honestly 5 stars just isn't enough, i would happily give it a million if i could, because that's what this story deserves! It is a story about the meaninglessness of war and fighting because your being told, "they looked at me funny so hit them for me" but also Pratchett tells a story akin to mulan but if you ask me done better, with our main character polly who joins the army to save her brother, but in order to blend in she must act and disguise herself as a man, and finds the army she has joined is more than what she thought. Pratchett weaves a story of female empowerment and even Trans Rights before that was a known mainstream thing, this book is dripping in empowerment to be who you feel you are, no matter what the world, law, religion, whatever tells you should be! And i really wish i could expand on that, but if i was to, I'd have to spoil a lot of it. Just know that this book is an underrated gem and one that in todays world should be talked about and shared more, as Pratchett was a very clever and caring man and he saw things before they came to be, it's just down to use to read his books and to decipher the clues he left us. And that is the power that he wielded so well. Do yourself a favour and read this book, you will not be disappointed.

(Review) - I enjoyed this book, that is when it decided what kind of story it wanted to be! Like i haven't been so up and down with a book but still interested in the story in my life. As i am a die hard fan of the Maya and Aztecs and the idea of old ruins, ancient aliens and lost technology, so the idea of old mayan ruins lost to time rediscovered where the research crew goes missing without a trace like the congo, im all here for it!! But it felt like it had to throw in drug lords and rebels into the story and blood sacrifices. Now don't get me wrong that's interesting in it's own story, but when the story keeps changing it's mind from that ancient aliens back to drug lords and rebels and then back to blood sacrifice, and on and on. Don't get me wrong i was interested as they are all fascinating topics but to be tossed about so much I was worried this was going to be the theme all the way through. So blessed my soul when they finally choose the story line i wanted and stuck with it, i could relax with a huge smile on my face that i knew i was going to enjoy what was to come and i did. So overall apart from the flippy floppy story plot changing, I'd still say give this one ago, as once it sticks the landing and finds the story thread it wants to follow then you'll enjoy the book more!

The great traction city London has been skulking in the hills to avoid the bigger, faster, hungrier cities loose in the Great Hunting Ground. But now, the sinister plans of Lord Mayor Mangus Crome can finally unfold.
(Review) - The ideas and concepts here are completely orginal and fascinating to me the likes I've never seen before and it's that you look for when looking for something new to read. The idea of Municipal Darwinism that the smaller fish gets eaten by the bigger fish or in this world the smaller town gets eaten by the bigger citys like London, but as qui-gon so rightly put it, "there is always a bigger fish" and food, resources and pray is dwindling so London must go hunting if it wishes to survive! Honestly the concept there is worth the price of admission alone, and kept me interested till the end and i found myself really enjoying what was here, BUT! There was a few things that kept it away from the legendary 5 star rating, number 1 the constant bullying of Hester, now it is let on early in the story that Hesters face is horribly disfigured due to an attack when she was younger, which thats fine it's part of character and backstory, and you'd think once it came up it wouldn't matter so much, but everyone brings it up constantly throughout the story and Hester is never allowed to defend herself or no one comes to her defense not even Tom! His her friend and he does it the most. So i hope for book 2 that stops or she gets to defend herself. Number 2 - Stop the forced romance! Im no scrooge, i don't mind a bit of love in a story, but when you hit me with the high concepts this book presents the reader and that idea of adventure, then that's all I want, stop trying to force a love story where doesn't need to be between Tom and Hester, just have them as close friend's, that works perfectly for them. But i worry they are going to be made to fall in love in the next book which Hester deserves so much better as Tom was mean to her for half of this story! I just hope for book 2 they focus more on the adventure side as i want to know more about this world beyond the traction cites and less about this forced romance that i don't believe. So time will tell, It will be a while before i come back to this series so by then i will be fresh brained and ready for more Municipal Darwinism.
