So im in primary school and im going to pick a book that i can read in class for my reading level. Now because i have dyslexia i didn't have much choice of books this was a level up and i had to argue for it and the teachers gave in and it was a book i couldn't put down and always picked out and read constantly over and over again and each time with as much joy and excitement as the first time. Well the years went on my old school was knocked down and a new one was built and then that meant new books, which meant getting rid of old books including this book i saw the teacher pull this book out and throw it into the bin. And i just couldn't see this book be treated like that so when the teachers weren't looking i ran over to the bin i picked out the book and put it under my jumper and walked away calmly to my bag and put it in there and still to this day 20 years old 23/04/2018 i have that book. Now that i look back i think i should of asked for the book if they was throwing it away they would of given it to me but fear as a young boy of them saying no was to much of a risk but as you can tell for me there is a lot of love for this short book but it got me into aliens and conspiracy theory's and the foundation for my nerdy/geekyness and all the joys of life out there other than humans.
As for the book it's self it's basic as it was wrote for kids almost as a starting block to alien conspiracy's it has story's about the famous Roswell new mexico crash site, area 51, the barney and Betty hill case where they were on a drive home saw some lights get home and find they where missing about 3+ hours of there time they where abducted by small Gray men. which then that leads on to the different types of aliens that have been described by people who have been abducted all really fascinating and it is all put together in a way that is easy to understand but also enjoy unlike if you was to read about these cases online and have to sit and read 6 pages and only the first 3 are worth reading yeah I've been there.
Even though this book was made for kids i still recommend it for viewers who have kids or want an easy route into this huge conspiracy world and it is a big world so a bridging book like this will help well it helped me at a young age....more

unlike the first book this one is shorter and more of a field guide on things that you should follow If you want to get the most out of your life. as it says in the book quite a few well enough people read the first book and struggled a little so this field guide is more for them. and it works really well I still use what I learned in the first book and no doubt I will use what I've learned in this book also as it elaborated on a few things making them a bit more stream lined and clearer to follow. it's a great read and a very well written field guide I would recommend this for anyone having troubles in life or at school or at work or college and dont have the time to sit and read the bigger first book which id still say when you have free time read it because theirs things in both of these books that can be used anywhere and that's why it's so helpful and i really think it deserves more eyes on it then it has gotten so if you don't have the time pick this book up and give it a go and see if you can get the most out of your life....more

And coming off the strings of murder I easily fell back into this world without any trouble again i felt involved in the story as a ghost watching in the background. there's not many books you read today that are so good as the first book or even better at times as this story was it took from what made the first story so fantastic and turbo charged it 10x and it just proves how much a great writer Oscar De Muriel is and I'm truly in love with the characters to the point where I worrie what happens to them and no spoilers but this book you just cant help not worrie about them. I honestly can't wait till the 3rd novel comes out to my knowledge at the moment Oscar De Muriel is in the process of writing the 3rd book so now I am waiting and ready for my next case with the Edinburgh boys
update - i loved the 3rd book not as much as this one but if you read that review so you can see why ;)....more

Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.
this book is pure fantasy i loved every bit of it this is the book that got me into wanting to read more J.R.R Tolkien from being a fan of the movies i knew i had to read the books which i am at the moment im currently reading through the lord of the rings, but i have also read some of his other books like the silmarlion and the children of hurin, and his children books which are just as amazing roverrandom is a huge recommend for kids and adults alike. but the silmarlion is for more die hard Tolkien fans not just your common lover of the movies that being said i still recommend the hobbit to any and all book lovers not just fantasy because this book on its own without the follow up lord of the rings is just incredible and needs to be read by more, i know that i would happily give up my life now and go live life as a hobbit in the shire no questions asked im gone going on an adventure. ...more

Drifters in search of work, George and his simple-minded friend Lennie have nothing in the world except each other and a dream--a dream that one day they will have some land of their own. Eventually they find work on a ranch in California’s Salinas Valley, but their hopes are doomed as Lennie, struggling against extreme cruelty, misunderstanding and feelings of jealousy, becomes a victim of his own strength. Tackling universal themes such as the friendship of a shared vision and giving voice to America’s lonely and dispossessed.
That word above at the start of the review "Compelling" it is a very interesting world that relates to this review you see as most of you might had to in school you had to read a book for English and then break the story down and critically evaluate it well that book for me was "Of Mice and Men". Now I do not hate the story I quite like and admire the story and characters which I will touch on a little more later but for now I went to go back to that word "Compelling" because it honestly was for me the first time reading the book and watching the movie. But I quickly grew fatigue towards the story because the constant reading of the book and watching the film and having to critically evaluate everything down to the last Crum of detail that I grew to hate the book which is a shame because it's honestly amazing and it's taken me 6 years to finally see that. As for the world its interesting it's set during the prohibition in the united states and our two leads George and Lennie must go out look for work on farms and ranches so they can make a little bit of money so they can build their own farm and be their own boss. George is small but smart and is the carer of the tall strong softy both in personality and in the head Lennie from getting into trouble. The story takes place mostly on a ranch where they have procured work and this is where the book starts to get very compelling and tells the real true story of friendship, hardship, and life and quickly things go south and well I won't spoil anything but you will grow a big connection to our two leads and the book does get very emotional I teared up a little. Overall even at the beginning of first reading this book and hating it for 6 years I have grown to love what it is and now the idea of school is long behind me I can honestly say I loved this story from start to end it was interesting sad funny and compelling and I cannot recommend this one more, As for my rating for a long time it has been at a 2 I decided it deserved a 3 star rating instead maybe even a 3.5 even if I’m trying not to judge this book on the actions of the educational system I’d give it a 4 but a part of me is still mad at school for ruining this classic for me for so long. So i say if you haven't read this yet read it and if you have then you know how great it is and if you read this in school you feel my pain and will understand my low rating well i hope you do anyway i guess we will see.

i also find it really funny that these lessons of war can be used in everyday life i think it just shows that even in war that you can find peace and enlightenment i know that it gave me some clarity but im not sure how to explain how it gave me clarity i just know it did deep down its a weird spiral effect. but this book proves that just because of its true meaning and the year it was wrote that it dont mean it should be forgotten i feel that this is a book that every body should read not just the curious this book should be for people who dont know about this book to just see how they feel afterwards. ...more

armada is a very interesting and enjoyable book with twists and turns and as you would expect from Ernest Cline full to the brim with references from the 80s and gaming and i loved that reading through and feeling like captain america like "i get that reference" and with the big twist in the story near the end as with all my reviews no spoilers so i wont talk about it but its a very interesting one. i wont lie even though i was kinda surprised by the twist i kinda saw it coming at the same time which kinda un-sweetened the deal i got with overall story.
i don't believe what our people say that Ernest Cline is a one hit wonder his story's are interesting and creative and i cant wait to see what he writes next. thats why i gave armada the 5 star rating on goodreads well deserved if you ask me....more

What is a good psychopath? And how can thinking like one help you to be the best that you can be?
i started this book before i started college and it What is a good psychopath? And how can thinking like one help you to be the best that you can be?
i started this book before i started college and it was a great help to me, now I've never been a great believer in self help books but have to be honest when i saw this book i thought "thats a weird but interesting name for a book? hummm maybe i should give it a look see" and its bad its actually pretty amazing you see everyone has an inner psychopath inside of them from birth its a human instinct to survive to get the most out of life.
it starts off by explaining to you what a psychopath really is and the common misconceptions of one and how we all are one and then goes on to explain to you how to use it and well make people your own slave by manipulating them in other words. And like the art of war this book gave me a better understanding of myself and the world around me and how I can utilize different aspects of myself to get what I want without anyone else being none the wiser and i'll be honest I've been rather crafty and well ........ used others to my advantage but for good that is to get me to where i need to be and people are still none the wiser ;) not just that but I've always had a silver tong and had a way with words so this book has made me a persuading machine ;)
and so will you be if you see this book on the shelves its been a great help to me with and i will be using the skills I've learnt from this book for the rest of my living days.
I also love the tick box's they have at the end of every chapter to see what kind of person you are depending on the subject chapter it is amazing a great touch to an already amazing book and helped me hone in my skills and learn something new about myself

Such cases are the stuff of whodunits. But this book is based on real life and not fiction. It reveals the astonishing, known facts about real acts of villainy...and it probes the fascinating, missing facts that confound the law and are kept in a file marked 'Unsolved'
while reading this book my inner Sherlock Holmes came out but i also tried to channel my inner calumbo trying to already know what happened before i had it all explained to me and then let the case unfold but i already knew what was going on. It didn't work ha ha i tried but some of these cases where just insane at time's i just wished that they were not real and that all these cases where made up but umm sadly this world is not all sun shine and rainbows and these cases actually happend which was quite sad but still interesting to the side of me who is interested in the mind and psychopaths and how they work so on that side i was intrigued but you cant help not feel bad for these poor people.
so overall a really interesting book im still no closer to solves these crimes more smarter and trained professionals have tried and even they haven't figured them out so i got no where close. But that being said i still tried and the cases where written out well every detail so you could break down the case and try to figure it out it was really interesting. So i recommend this for anybody like me who is a huge lover of crime novels/story's true cases or made up ones either way you will enjoy this....more
theirs not much that i can say about this book other than i loved it being a huge fan of will Ferrell and his SNL character Ron burgundy and anchormantheirs not much that i can say about this book other than i loved it being a huge fan of will Ferrell and his SNL character Ron burgundy and anchorman I had to get this book and every page I was in tears of laughter so funny I just hope that Ron burgundy (AKA Will Ferrell) writes another book I'm ready to get back in the ride and do it all over again even though i sadly feel that will never happen as this came with the release of anchorman 2 and i remember him saying that they might not make another film. but that being said i feel that will Ferrell should write more comedy books or even an autobiography as i would defiantly read it because his a natural comic.

after watching the TV show when I was very young I knew I had to eventually read the book and when I finally got round to it I felt myself lost in the characters as i did when i first saw the mini series the 101st platoon where an amazing set of men so brave to be the first para troopers in the military and to jump into the fray completely blind. its just amazing and the first historical book I've ever read and im glad i did it felt so real when reading obviously i know it is but . i guess that proves how good the writer is to take what happened and transfer it so well into a story that it keeps you wanting more and on the edge of your seat its just a truly incredible book and story that should be read by more especially with the newer generation its good to teach them of the past as most dont care or know which is a true shame.

but enough about me onto the book like i said above its amazing and i love it. its extremely retro for its future tones which i love all things 80's and old with references to retro movies and tv shows books and comics and music for me this was all just insane and a great roller coaster ride and as gamer lover and now designer i have more respect for this book and its themes. hunting Easter eggs and having to race to find them because of the million other people looking for the Easter eggs and and most of them working for the evil LOL, ioi corporation (i was never sure which one) and its just one hell of a ride and one you'll love and i cant recommend this enough no matter what you read or ifyour a fan of sc-fi and gaming but you will really love this book its that well written

i have to be a stick in the mud and be that guy who says "well in the movies" (he says in a winy voice) but one thing they left out in the movie are marks oxygen filters and how that he had to conserve his travels outside and i see why they left that out of the film but i just wish that they kept it in would of added in that little extra immersion.
one thing i have to love about this story is just how it begins one of the best opening to a story ive ever read and showed me from the beginning how much fun i was going to have and i quote

I’m pretty much fucked. That’s my considered opinion. Fucked. Six days into what should be one of the greatest two months of my life, and it’s turned into a nightmare. I don’t even know who’ll read this. I guess someone will find it eventually. Maybe a hundred years from now. For the record…I didn’t die on Sol 6. Certainly the rest of the crew thought I did, and I can’t blame them. Maybe there’ll be a day of national mourning for me, and my Wikipedia page will say, “Mark Watney is the only human being to have died on Mars.

this being the first book of the series you are introduced to the amazing duo that is detective Ian fray the classic gentleman detective and then you have the creepy yet somehow wonderful 9 nail McGray they are a huge odd couple but there differences work so well together to you just fall in love with them.
