It is a cute story that was easy to read, without even having read the entire series. I was able to understand and follow this storyline as each book is its own adventure. Already looking to read the others in this series.
Our main character Luke is a hotheaded firefighter with hidden feelings about life and those people in his life. Luke has an easy time having one-night stands while not having relationships or feelings. Bella is a friend of a family member that Luke didn't know too much about. Bella is even tempered but Luke seems to bring out her sassiness more often than not. When these two come together they are hot headed, sassy and sexy together!...more

This story is so super cute and sweet and so perfect. Some books, some authors, and some stories are just right. This is one of those authors. This is one of those books. In fact this series is just right.
The Sylver siblings may have had a rough start with the passing of their mother and the absence of their father after her death, but they are strong, admirable and so very loved.
Young Judd Sylver needs a friend, so on National Make a New Friend Day, when he was 11 years old, 8 year old Genie asked him to be her new friend. However, kids are mean. Friends the two did not become. Too much was happening in Judd’s young life for him to understand that he really needed a friend like Genie. Fast forward over the years and the two are more acquaintances than friends. After 20 plus years of no contact, these two still have eyes or rather a snap-crack-pop for each other.
The way these two reconnect is nothing short of sweet and everything worth fighting for. ...more

Ford Sylver is a recently single father, a baseball star, a Sylver brother. But he is also tired, lost and oh so vulnerable. Ford is easy to fall for and by Chapter 1 I am all in! His loneliness and longing seals the deal: ...all I'd wanted was my person. That one woman who had faith in me, believed in me, and loved me. This story starts with Ford waking up from a night he clearly forgot, too many drinks trying to chase away the pain. However, what he doesn’t remember the most is the girl he drank with, the girl who will become so very important to him. Cadence. Cadence is a music star who is not out of her head with fame. She is someone who makes her own choices, has a few life experiences, not all good, and she is lonely too.
I love books that make sport references and references that work: “We accepted that love sometimes has field error, like a dropped ball or a missed hit, but together we could play the game any way we wished.
Highly recommend this author, this book and this entire series! ...more

This story has to be close to one of my favorites by Dunbar. The emotions this story brings. Sign and Ugh! Definitely recommend this book with the following warning: do not read while drinking alcohol...way too many emotional truths, such as: “But the first this I need to figure out is how to love myself. Wow! And how about this gem: “At some point, we have to stop beating ourselves up for mistakes in our past. Looking forward to the next one! ...more

My heart was breaking for Annalise the entire time I was reading it. Even just thinking about her makes my heart hurt. Maybe because I felt a very strong connection to this character. This story is about a woman, Annalise, who must choose between what she has been taught her entire life or to make a stand for herself. Annalise does not have a very good support system in her family, except for her younger sister. The rest of the family, in my opinion is a piece of work! (And that’s putting it mildly!) Annalise is use to turning the other check, she is definitely a lover not a fighter. She’s the type of person that if she ever makes a stand everyone better watch out! I loved the writing in this story, the details and descriptions actually made my heart heal a time or two.
“I once again felt like the blind person who has suddenly had her vision completely restored; everything is in glorious Technicolor when I am in his presence. And I never want it to stop.
Annalise is not the only character facing troubling situations. Remember that sister? While Charity is only 16 years old, she too must make life changing choices. Trek is the father of one of the children in Annalise's preschool class and he too faces challenges designed to test the heart of any person. And then there’s Annalise’s husband, Aaron. His choices throughout the story and how Annalise deals with him are what leads to so much heart break and heart ache! Is there a chance for anyone to have a happily ever after? I can say this, there is a ray of light in all the despair:
“Trust me on this. It’s better to take the risk and fail, knowing you tried, than to keep yourself locked away and safe, never knowing what it feels like to spread your wings. She reaches out to grasp my chin in her bony, veiny hands. “You’ve been given to fly, my love. You just need to believe you can.

My first book by MK Meredith and I absolutely love this book. No jealous exes, no conniving evilness lurking about. Just two people with terrible pastMy first book by MK Meredith and I absolutely love this book. No jealous exes, no conniving evilness lurking about. Just two people with terrible pasts trying to overcome their misery and heart ache. Neither believing that love would find them. Of course their own stubbornness is the only thing standing in their way, that and The Cape.
The characters were believable, lovable, emotional, passionate, just perfect in their un-perfectness. Not only the main characters of Ryker and Larkin (by the way…awesome and original names!) but those “secondary characters had life and personalities all on their own! Maxine…OMG I want to be her when I grow up! Blayne is the best friend character and is awfully quiet which leaves me to think she has a big story to tell! I am sure there are stories waiting to be told about each of the North Cove’s Mavens! Each character, not only the male ones but the female ones are so strong! Especially the females! No weak damsel in distress in this story!
The story itself was easy reading which means it flowed smoothly. There were minor flash backs that were clearly indicated so there was no confusion as to what was happening when. The time line progression was real…no fast forward 12 years. Even the romance was good, it fit with the story. The passion was heart-warming, the pain…raw.
I highly recommend this story and will be personally looking for the next story by MK Meredith.
