Unable to stick around to look after her absentee father, Anna runs off to England where she pays for her schooling by tutoring on the side. When she's invited to join the wealthy family of one of her students she gets caught up in an elite group of British jet setters. But the longer she pretends to be one of them, the more lies she finds herself telling, to the point where things come to an awful head with dire consequences.
This was part family drama/tragedy, part romance, and part women's fiction and is sure to appeal to fans of the Emily in Paris series or anyone who likes to root for a determined working class woman trying to make it on her own. As Lola and Aly spend more time together in the Hamptons and Fire Island over the summer they start to catch real feelings causing Lola to reexamine her own sexual identity and consider whether she might be bisexual. This was messy, dramatic and at times very graphic sexually. I feel like it's sure to appeal to fans of authors like Magnolia Parks. I did love the audio narration by Bailey Carr and found myself rooting for Lola by the end. I enjoyed this debut opposites attract, forced proximity, dual POV, workplace romance between a Director of photography and his female director. This I enjoyed this debut opposites attract, forced proximity, dual POV, workplace romance between a Director of photography and his female director. This had emotional depth and fantastic chemistry between the leads, there was also disability rep (he has Lynch syndrome which is a precursor to colon cancer and she has an absentee/neglectful mother). There was also a lot of fun on set dynamics between the actors and the crew that I enjoyed getting insight into. Good on audio and recommended for fans of authors Christina Lauren. SUCH a great debut!! Part magical realism, part romance and 100% a feel-good, heartwarming read about grief, group therapy and moving on. This is perfSUCH a great debut!! Part magical realism, part romance and 100% a feel-good, heartwarming read about grief, group therapy and moving on. This is perfect for fans of books like Anxious people by Frederik Backman and tackles tough subjects like losing loved ones to Alzheimer's, suicide and early infant loss. While this book deals with depression and other heavy mental health issues it is also uplifting and ultimately a hopeful story about the power of community, friendship and kindness to our fellow humans who are going through tough times. Great on audio and full of some shocking twists. This is the best book I've read since The measure by Nikki Erlick. Witty, snarky and sure to keep you on the edge of your seat as Ruth outsmarts everyone who is trying to find and/or kill her. It was good on audio narrated by Dan Bittner and Rebecca Lowman.
My only critique was that I didn't love how abrupt the ending was or how she left her rescue dog behind to save herself. Not since Marissa Stapley’s Lucky have I read such a badass female main character and I would love to see this one made into a movie!

They were accessible, relatable and thoughtful and are sure to resonate with many women, mothers and non-mothers alike. Some of my favorites included The compliment game, Marriage of friends, Cycle of women and Same. Highly recommended, especially for fans of poets like Amanda Lovelace.
Favorite lines: "I think of what a gift it is to be part of a cycle of women who care. Who are cared for, who take care of their young and each other, who know how to care well for themselves."
"it is hard to describe how good it feels to be part of a group of women who belong to each other."
"We never know whose day we will change, whose life will be impacted by our words. The lesson, I think? Give compliments wherever you go."...more

I loved the dynamics between the two main characters and the gaming references. While a bit slow to start for me in the beginning, once I got invested I couldn't wait to see how things were going to end! Highly recommended for cozy mystery fans or books like Murder at Gulls nest by Jess Kidd. The more they dwell on the way their body is changing and how uncomfortable being a 'girl' feels, the more they start to question whether maybe a nonbinary identity fits them best. It was good on audio with narrators who had authentic accents and I loved that it was written by an actually autistic author and the main female protagonist Olivia is autistic, fat and has to deal with actual autistic episodes like sensory overload, stimming and more.
