This was a quick read, but every single chapter was action-packed. How could it not be with pirates, a kidnapping, disguises, sea monsters, and more? Talk about excitement. I enjoyed the unexpected backstory along with the twists and turns. It's so hard not to spoil anything. I was glad to hear more from Fara. She's an interesting character who always adds a bit of humor. I could have never guessed the story would have developed as it did, but I was there for it. I've had so much fun reading this series and being a part of this world. Is this the last of the series? I don't know, but I enjoyed this one either way....more

I've read a previous series of hers and enjoyed it, so when I realized she was putting out a fae fantasy with hints of Cinderella. She made it into an omegaverse, sign me up. I didn't realize what a behemoth Fated or Knot was. This book is huge! And no wonder, Hendricks has created a very detailed world with a shocking variety of fae. All kinds of shapes, sizes, colorings, and species. OMG, the backstory was fantastic. There were heinous villains, epic twists, and a great magic system. All of that on top of the omegaverse details that I enjoy. Ella got really creative with this world. There are mating marks, designations, symbols, dream magic, heat suppressant tattoos, and more.
The characters were great. Lark was sweet. When everything about her past came out, I wanted to rage on her behalf. It was truly horrific. Her harem consists of a pack of brothers whom I all adore. I especially loved the bond the brothers had—very playful even if a few fights broke out. The best part would have to be the found family aspect of the story. There are a lot of characters in this book (only the MCs have POVs), and it is a huge family with close-knit bonds. I really liked the princes' family. It's big, the bonds are tight, and everybody is in everybody's business. I especially liked the sisters; they were a lot of fun.
Fated or Knot was quirky and unique, and I loved it. The Cinderella aspects were immediately recognizable, and Ella's take on OV was refreshing but familiar....more

A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic was the Great British Bake Off magical edition. Everything I look for in a cozy read and in a fantasy, plus there's baking. What's not to love?
Arleta is a good person, but she is stubborn to a fault. She's let fear and prejudice dictate a lot of her life. Hurt by life and circumstances, she has her guard up, even against those who've always been in her corner. It was frustrating at times, but overall I liked her. Besides Arleta, there was this wonderful cast of characters. Theo was the kindest elf I have ever met. A dwarf with a bright personality and even a grumpy fox, plus many more great personalities.
To quote Despicable Me, "It's so fluffy!" This was a lighthearted read with just enough angst (the romance kind and otherwise) to keep things exciting. The journey to the baking battle was a little bit of an adventure. Then there was the baking itself. The competition was tight, and the pressure was on. The story was so incredibly detailed, it was just like watching my favorite series. There were events from dinners to balls, and let's not forget the actual competition set inside a lush castle. Things were a little low-risk until that twist.
What a good read! I loved everything about A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic, especially the ending. I'm looking forward to more series from Adenashire....more

Vicious and Volatile was one of my most highly anticipated books, and boy, was it wild. Lana didn't let a little thing like kidnapping stop her. The deeper she gets into Ares's world, the more she knows she's meant to be in it. I admire Lana's bravery. She is a human in the world of supernaturals, stepping up to find her place in it. And Ares is right by her side, making my heart flutter. He's a genuine good guy, and he proves it over and over. I like where things are headed with him and Lana.
OMG! This book was excellent! So much action. Lana and Ares go on a bit of a hunt, and some people get what they are owed. It was very satisfying. There were more of the barons, which I find insightful. However, it was the royals that really piqued my interest. This series is my first in the Blood Descendants Universe, so I find all the stuff they reveal utterly fascinating. A little mystery popped up that gave me a horrible feeling, and I'm almost certain a new character is involved. By the end, I was in shock. It's where the two biggest plot twists happened. My jaw was on the floor. Like. What!? How did Keary just end it like that?! I have so many questions. I'm already counting down the days until the next book....more

She had an amazing amount of skill and a genius-level intellect. Add in how powerful she was and her cunning mind. Mina was pretty awesome, earning all of it through blood, sweat, and tears.
Mina has gotten herself some great backup. She's made friends with a bunch of fantastic guys. I thought they would have been a great addition to her harem, but for now, they're still friendzoned. One can hope. The one she does have locked down is Abraxis. He was a dream, protective, and possessive, but most importantly, he followed her lead. I couldn't help but love him.
I enjoy a good academy read, especially when it's the survival of the fittest type. You know, the type of places where there are a thousand and one ways to die. Well, that describes Dragonis perfectly. Something was always happening, and the student body was dropping like flies. I liked the element of danger. Mina got to show off, but I also enjoyed the amount of detail Serenity put into everything. The story actually felt like it was in an academy instead of just stating it. The story was at a decent pace, and I never knew what was coming next. There was a moment, about halfway through, where I felt like I was kind of blindsided. What I read in the earlier chapters didn't line up with what was happening. It was a little disorienting, but after I continued, things started to make sense. It was a unique way of writing a twist, and you know what? I wasn't mad about it.
So much happened, and this was just the first year. Trial of the Cursed Egg was an excellent read. I loved getting lost in this world., and I look forward to doing it again in the next book....more

J. Kearston knocked it out of the park. I liked all the MCs. Ever was cool. She's smart and quirky, and I liked her sense of humor. Her thought spirals left me in awe. I think at one point clown masks were mentioned. Ever found herself a mixed harem, and I do mean mixed, from personalities to the type of supe. I liked all of them, but Arson was my favorite. When done right, I love a psychopath, and Arson is crazier than a cat in a handbag, but he's so much more. He's smarter and more insightful than people give him credit for. Some of my favorite lines came from him.
Is there such a thing as a cozy paranormal romance? If so, this might be one. The story is set in an idyllic, supernatural-only mountain town and is lighter than expected. I loved the idea of a gamer girl breaking out on her own. Inventing something new and creative. Between Ever discovering the supernatural, the banter, mate marks, business deals, and adorable mates, I was having a blast. Things were going so well, then bam! Cliffhanger! I don't know where Kearston is taking the story, but I'm ready for it. I can't wait to see what happens next....more

In City of Secrets and Shadows, Livia goes from gladiator to cadet. I enjoy the academy setting; there are trials, your typical mean girls, and more. However, if Livia thought it was safe, she needed to think again. I was not surprised to find that the academy was just like the arena; the same people, except they wore the face of a noble.
The trials Liv had to go through were exciting, but what I really found interesting was the history between the Talfen people and the Empire. It's dark and wrapped in a conspiracy. The more I learn about the Talfens, the more my heart goes out to their people. Something is most definitely brewing; I can feel it. Between that and Liv's revenge plot, I can't help but feel the tension. Speaking of tension, why can Liv's harem come together more smoothly? There have been a lot of relationship developments. Some were interesting, while others I'm not a fan of. Liv has disappointed me with some of her decisions concerning her relationships. Hopefully, they get it together soon, although I don't think I'll ever like Septimus.
There were two incredible plot twists. The first was shocking, while the second completely upended my world. Like, what? What! That twist was one of the best cliffhangers Elizabeth Blackthore has ever written. Completely changed the game. Where the story goes from here, I can only guess....more

Jake is an oddball who just met the woman he wants to spend forever with. The MCs weren't the most normal of people, but that's what I liked the most about the story. Yes, they were different, but they were looking for someone to accept their weirdness. Things did get a little weird, which led to some humorous situations.
This was the first time I came across a raccoon shifter, so the story had my attention right at the start. Jake was a sweet human and an adorable raccoon, certainly a unique twist on the hidden identity trope. The romance had very little angst. This was a fluffy romance, with the major problem being a few misunderstandings. I had fun reading this little offbeat romance....more

Debbie has created an incredibly detailedIf you're looking for an epic fantasy, I'm telling you, Debbie Cassidy's Lost and Stolen Gods is a must-read.
Debbie has created an incredibly detailed world filled with gods, demigods, and many more supernaturals. I enjoyed the bits and pieces of Hindu culture Debbie integrated into the story; I hadn’t come across anything like it before. Rakshasas, sages, the drohi, mages, and so much more. Plus, the entire thing takes place at a (magical) war college. Complete with training, combat, missions, and magic. The descriptions are amazingly detailed and certainly set the stage.
The characters were fantastic. MFC Leela started a little flaky but quickly transformed into a warrior who has potential, I loved her evolution. Leela is all heart but is very committed to becoming a warrior with the support of her new friends. Debbie knows how to write a good friend group. Leela's found family has her back, which is something she's never experienced before. Speaking of lasting bonds, the character Blue was one of my favorites. He breaks up the seriousness by adding a touch of humor. He certainly had me cackling. The romance was complicated. This could have easily been an RH with a few great candidates, but alas, it's an MF romance. An alphahole is involved, and mystical bonds happen that take forced proximity to a new level. The jury is still out on the MMC; only time will see if he changes my mind.
I loved it! Lost and Stolen Gods was stunning. However, I'm not going to lie, Debbie completely savaged my feelings near the end. Gods, it was brutal. Then there was that ending—not a big cliffhanger, but enough of one to make me wonder where the story will go next....more

It started with the holiday read Knot Beneath the Mistletoe, which featured Ruby, Lily's best friend, and now it's Lily's turn.
Lily was cool. I loved her sense of humor. She's also witty and a true crime addict, among other things, and she runs a successful bakery with her sister. She's also an omega but didn't have any omega tendencies until she met three friends, all of whom are alphas. Snowstorms, late nights, and a drunken game of Truth or Dare—let the chaos begin. I liked all the characters. I enjoyed getting to know Lily more. Surprisingly, there's a little darkness beneath her bright surface, and it matches the alphas' own darkness perfectly. The banter was something I lived for. It was one of my favorite things about the story. The sense of belonging. They belonged together, and Lily fit right in, almost instantaneously.
The story was fantastic! It seemed like fate had a helping hand, forcing everyone together. I mean, who's mad at a little forced proximity? New relationships were forming, and Lily was having a bit of self-discovery, learning who she was with all her omega senses activated. Secrets come out, meaningful conversations are had, and real feelings start to develop. This is one of those lighter omegaverses. I mean, sure, there were some bumps in the road, but just enough drama to be entertaining but light enough to sit back and have a good time. And the added twist of a treasure hunt was just the icing on top.
Knotting With A Stranger was sweet, playful, and funny—an excellent read. I loved it, and I can't wait for the next one....more

It was glorious! The story just keeps getting better.
Gwen is still my girl. I just want her to love herself as much as I love her. She's been through a lot, and I'm glad Annie has her back. I love how Gem presents their friendship; it has elevated from a friendship to a sisterhood, and Gwen could use more ride-or-die in her. A few of her guys are like that, but of course, Gem loves to torture me. There was some angst, especially with the sudden appearance of an interloper. Surprisingly, it's Sergei who won my heart in this. He started to change my mind in the previous book, but this book solidified it.
The plot blew my freaking mind. Seeing the war from the Vian's perspective was certainly eye-opening. I knew something hinky was up with the Nexus history, but I couldn't figure out what, and it was driving me crazy. I still don't truly know what to believe. Then there was that ending... multiple plot twists. One after another, so shocking, I think I stopped breathing. Like, WTF?!?!

It's been a while since the first book in the Gun Runner Princess series, but the second book is finally here, and I couldn't have been more excited. Two For the Show was even crazier than I expected, and I loved it.
My girl Von is back. She's still as badass as ever, but she's developing a softer side. By no means is Von ever soft, and gods forbid she's willing to talk about feelings, but Von is self-aware enough to notice the changes. Including the fact that she's developing feelings for the surrounding guys. Including a very lovable con artist. Apollo was so unexpected. He's a criminal mastermind who has a dark side, but he also has a bright, dare I say bubbly side. He is like an excited stalker puppy when it comes to Von and crew. Yes, he's a little crazy, but in Von's world, who isn't? I adored Apollo, and I can't wait to meet his twin.
I live for the chaos, and that's exactly what this story was, pure chaos. Apollo is chaos personified; he knows exactly how to get underneath everyone's skin. His interactions with Von and the guys provided some unexpected humor. This book feels slightly darker than the first, with not only Von's history with her Master coming up, but Eric has his own dark past that came out. Now I understand how an ex-military guy fits in so well with them. There was loads of action, things got crazy for a minute, and I enjoyed meeting Von's twin brothers, they were great. I loved how loving and supportive they were of their little sister. They truly see Von as an equal in a world that doesn't respect women.
Two For The Show was amazeballs. My favorite part was the club scene and everything after. It was a great example of why Von is known as the Wolf. There were so many action scenes along with the plot that it felt as if I was watching a movie, but way better. The story didn't end on a cliffhanger, but that doesn't mean I'm not just as excited to get my hands on the next book....more

MFC Hailey is an omega who just escaped a reform academy with nefarious intentions. I've never encountered a character with such a traumatic life who was completely innocent and vulnerable yet incredibly caring and brave. Hailey just broke my gods darned freaking heart. I cried, for goodness sake.
When Hailey meets the guys, they're already an established pack with male omega. However, the pack is fractured. Tessa kept alluding to an incident that had happened years before, which seemed to be where their problems had started. The mystery of the incident kept me hooked. There were clues the entire way, and I got a good idea about what happened pretty early, but things weren't confirmed until near the end. I liked the pack, but they were a dumpster fire for sure. Each lost in their own heads and emotions. Out of everyone, I liked Finn the best. He was open, caring, and had a big heart. He was another one that had me tearing up. So many emotions in this book.
This was a good read. My only complaint was that it was a little too long; it could have been trimmed down, and there was some repetitiveness. Other than that, I enjoyed getting to know the pack and Hailey and seeing all of them start to heal from their wounds. What surprised me the most was that this was both equal parts of Finn's story as it was Hailey's. Everyone had a POV, but the story was mostly about the omegas. Although Ren's mysterious past kept drawing my eye. I can't wait to uncover that.
Things got really good at the end. The scene was set, the twist revealed, and there was a heart-stopping cliffhanger. I'm dying to know what happens next. I'm hoping Knot Unwanted Part Two comes sooner rather than later....more

Micah was completely devastated by the loss of her mate. She's been trying to move forward, but the cracks are starting to show. Micah isn't whole, but not all hope is lost. It looks like Micah has another fight ahead of her. I always enjoyed her steadfast determination, and she will need every bit of that to rescue her mate.
This was a quick read but so good. Driea has given not only a glimpse of the Academy after the war but she's also included a touch of mythology and added a few surprising characters. The story went by in a flash. I'll be honest with you, I was not expecting this book. Pippin hit a few bumps in the road, but she truly does have the makings of a great queen, even if she doesn't realize it. Pip is leading with her heart and is doing a pretty good job most of the time. The guys also have their share of issues to overcome, and one thing is obvious, they all need Pip by their side. They guys were so cute with her. The whole secret relationship aspect was starting to chafe a bit. It reached a point where I was like, "Everyone has to know they're in a relationship," but we’re pretending they didn't notice. It was seriously frustrating but still good.
The story moved a little slowly, but that's what happens with some fantasies. It was still good. The kingdom is on the brink of civil war. Draven's treacherous uncle is making moves, doing what villains do. There were a lot of annoying politics, some surprising side characters (I really liked Draven's cousin), and a lot of information was revealed about the dragon's relationship with humans in the past. Between all of that, the war itself, and the relationship angst, I was pretty entertained. Glimmer is always a character, but I also liked getting more of the other dragons' personalities.
There were a few surprises, but things ended pretty much how I expected. Dragon Queen was a good read. The epilogue was the best HEA I could have asked for....more

With a title like Broken Fates, things could go either way. When I started this book, I was a little worried about how Vale and the guys left things. It wasn't good, and the world has gone to hell. But that's not what I needed to worry about.
I didn't have to wait too long for the confrontation between Vale and her guys; it was brutal but needed to happen. There were a lot of emotions, but they worked it out. What I should've been more concerned with was what was happening. It's a nightmare come to life. Literally. There was an unexpected creep factor, but I didn’t hate it. There was a dreamlike quality, and it was hard to tell what was real. I was on edge waiting for the next horrible thing to happen because it was going to happen, and it wasn’t just Zamarra and Arden that Vale and the others had to worry about.
Talk about tension; there was a fair amount, not just from the characters, but the plot held a fair amount as well, and when the plot twist was revealed, I lost my freaking mind. It was so good. Once we hit those final chapters, things happened pretty quick. The final battle was epic; however, in my opinion, not nearly enough people got what was coming to them.
Wow! Broken Fates was outstanding! It was the perfect conclusion to a fantastic series. I am not ready to leave this world, but I guess I have to go. Vale, her guys, and the rest will be missed....more
