This book had everything I’ve come to expect from the series, hilarious wit, wonderful writing, an interesting mystery, and just one of my absolute favorite couples (although I really do wish they’d get better with communicating with each other already!). If you’ve been wanting more resolution regarding the former bullying, I think you’ll be very happy with this book as you really get to see how apologetic and regretful Phil is. There’s just so much love between these book and I could honestly read a dozen more books about these two and everything they encounter!

Already a fan of Grant’s works, I was desperate for this one even though I’m not always a vampire fan. If you’re the same way, don’t pass this one up!Already a fan of Grant’s works, I was desperate for this one even though I’m not always a vampire fan. If you’re the same way, don’t pass this one up! It is so much more than a vampire story. It’s also a bodyguard/protectee book, a book that’s extremely suspenseful at times, and a book with plenty of twists and turns to keep you wondering what’s going to be coming next. This is definitely book one in the series, and we’re still getting to know the characters, but I definitely like what we’ve seen so far. Everyone’s a little bit prickly, but with good reason, and I truly can’t wait until we get to see them come completely out of their shells as more secrets are revealed as the series progresses!

Yes to this book! Okay, first if you haven't read the Not Dead Yet series stop what you're doing and do that, it's not one hundred percent necessary but you will definitely enjoy this more and feel so many more emotions if you do so. Then pick up this absolutely wonderful book and get to see Evan heal and grow and love and meet the super interesting Colin! This book takes place 5 years after the events of the last book in the NDY series, which again, if you read that series you know was necessary for Evan to be in a place to have a story at all; and once again Burke delivers on a clever mystery, an intriguing world, and a growing romance. This ends with a shaky HFN, a promise that they will see where it goes, but it only makes me hunger for the rest of the series more! There's new big bads, the same old amazing found family (although more Wes and Hudson would always be appreciated), and such an intriguing story. Definitely one you wont want to miss!

I've been a fan of this trope in the past, but it didn't work for me here at all. The writing style just didn't mesh with me and I felt there was very little actual character development (and 90% of the side characters were just the most villiain-y characters with no other qualities). There was no real build up to the two MCs wanting each other, Eli is literally picking up his stuff and sad about to his breakup when he comes on to Noah for the first time; and then it went from sex to love in about another second. It just felt like nothing really happened except a cycle of sex and then the MCs being jerks.
Like I said, not for me, but 2 stars because I can see that there will be people that will like it, and I did keep reading until I finished....more

I've been dying for Kane's story ever since we first saw him in Off Balance, and it definitely didn't disappoint. My heart broke for him and all he's been through, but I thought Hogan masterfully wove a tale of how he came back from it and built a family along the way. Abe was the perfect counterpart with his protective streak and his ability to see through all the walls that Kane had erected and their love blooms organically and so believable. An emotional and riveting read, and while I'm sad it seems to be the end of Painted Bay, I'm excited to see what Hogan cooks up next!...more

The romance is soooo slow burn, the feeling are there but the relationship has gotten stuck before it really gets going, but I think this time is necessary for Matt/Hugh to figure out some really important things. It also is just laying the groundwork for a really great relationship in the future! The first book in this spin off series was just okay for me, I think I missed the action subplot of the original series, but with this one I was able to just sit back and enjoy the ride and really loved the book. We've seen Dustin really come into his own over these two series and in this book he's competent, mature (or as mature as dragons can be), and wholly prepared to be the man Rob needs. There's not much plot to this one, but there was a lot of laughs, a great cast of characters, and a very sweet romance. ...more

This bookAm going to try to keep this review spoiler free, so it's likely to get a little rambly, but Harmon sure knows how to keep you on your toes! This book was just so interesting and completely unlike anything else I've read in the genre. It's sorta a superhero book (but with the most morally gray superheroes), it's sorta a science fiction book, but at its heart it's a romance with the kind of epic love that everyone wants to find for themselves. A lot of twists and turns, plenty of action, and Chris and Gray being lovely throughout it. As always A+ snark and banter too so even when the plot gets heavy, Harmon masterfully can make you laugh out loud. Not a standalone by any means, but definitely a series worthy of picking up!...more
This is a new author to me, but that blurb spoke to my soul so I took a chance and I'm glad I did! I absolutely loved our MC Tristan and his dead sideThis is a new author to me, but that blurb spoke to my soul so I took a chance and I'm glad I did! I absolutely loved our MC Tristan and his dead sidekick Dusty (sorry Dusty for calling you a sidekick), and thought this was a fun, sweet, and at times steamy start to a new series. I really enjoy my MCs nerdy and shy and Tristan totally fit the bill. He isn't big on crowds, but you get to see him slowly become a person who is more comfortable in his skin as he tries to figure out what exactly happened to Dusty and why he's now the only one who can see her. I truly had fun while reading this and look forward to more.
Now you may notice I haven't really mentioned our other MC Danny. I did like Danny, he was strong and sweet, but he was a little boring. I wish his POV was either, A. spent on the investigation or B. not included. It's rare that I don't like dual POV, but I just didn't feel like it was necessary here and didn't really add much to the story. Hopefully as the series progresses we get more out of him than him mooning for Tristan (although Tristan definitely is someone to get moony over), as I feel like he has more to add than was given here. It's a little instalovey for my taste, and I think this could have made for a good slower burn, but I still have high hopes and can't wait to see what comes next!...more

Bisexual awakening, best friends to lovers, and so much steam you might need a fan just to get through the book. There were times when I wanted to just shove our two MCs into a room so they were forced to actually talk about their feelings, but overall I was able to look past it, as they really needed that time to get through their own hangups and make some real life changes before they were ready to completely be together. I loved both Chris and Lucas, Chris with his outgoing bubbly personality type and Lucas with his quiet strength and just complete caretaker personality. High on heat and feels, this was another great story from Eliot. ...more

The whole concepI'm having a really difficult time rating/reviewing this one. On the one hand, I was immediately sucked in and could not put it down. The whole concept of the Midnight Man is so interesting, and while it could have been fleshed out more, it was still intriguing to read about. Additionally, this felt so real. It's weird saying that when there is an obvious fantasy twist, but the characters were real humans with real issues, instead of some perfect fictional ideal.
Even with all that, I'm still not sure how much I actually liked this. While the characters were definitely real, they also were real likable. I cannot think of a single character that I genuinely liked, and for me that makes it tough to really enjoy. Add in the cheating and the sharing, which sometimes, but rarely, works for me, and the ending I did not enjoy (very open-ended, so if that's your thing you might differ here), and I'm left feeling mostly conflicted about this whole book. I'd say it was good, but not necessarily likable, if that makes any sense at all. ...more

There's nothing I love more than a tortured hero, and if Vorian is anything it's just that. Throw out everything you thought you knew about him from previous books, because while he always seemed hard and unlikeable, he's really got this super soft, but traumatized, marshmallow center underneath it all. And while we didn't really get to see Beau much in the previous books, he really shines here. These two are a couple you can't help but root for, even when it seems like the problems they face are insurmountable. While this amazing romance develops, we also get to see a culmination of all the Thorzan plot lines, and they are tied up in such an amazing way! The villains get vanquished exactly how they should, the hybrids get to see all that they are meant to be, and a bunch of lost humans find their way into a new and amazing life. A truly fun series, that I'm desperately sad to see end, especially since Kenosi NEEDS a story. ...more

Enemies to lovers is so hit or miss for me, as I either don't believe the "enemies" part, or I don't believe the turn to more, but both here worked so perfectly. Grumpy Knox and Sunshine Gage just work so well together.
