Kaylie Smith has changed my reading life. I’m not a fan of lip rings, but I want to be. This book was even better (if that’s possible) than Phantasma.
Genevieve Grimm’s life has always revolved around her sister, Ophelia, learning the family’s magic. She’s felt left out and lacking a place in the world. So, when she receives an invitation to Enchantra she can’t resist the opportunity to find answers.
Enchantra is a cursed palace filled with temptation and illusions at every turn. It’s also the place where Rowin Silver’s family has been trapped forever in a deadly game of hide and seek. And now that Genevieve has entered the game, could she be the key to releasing his family for good?
This interconnected standalone has the same dangerous game elements that played out in Phantasma, but there were enough differences that you don’t feel like you’re reading the same story over again. The Silver family was delightful, and the banter between Rowin and Genevieve was perfection. The way their connection built through each hunt was masterful. And the ending was soo good!
To say I devoured this book is an understatement. This is the second book in the Wicked Games series, and all I have to say is there better be more because I have never felt so immersed in a book in all my life. This is what it is truly like to read an all-in, immersive escape from the world and I am so thankful I gave Phantasma a try because, otherwise, I wouldn’t have had this enchanting experience.

Caroline Winterfield vanished into the woods…never to be seen again.
Twenty-five years later, Midge, Kelly and Talia reunite at newly remodeled Haven Cliff after Caroline’s high school boyfriend is found lying face down near where she was last seen. Was it a coincidence? The three women have been keeping a secret for Caroline, but is it now time to break their promise about where she went that night?
I grew up in Western New York and first discovered the (then) local author when I was in high school. I used to love reading her novels because they always kept me guessing. She’s still got the magic touch! It felt like I was reunited with an old friend while reading this, and I look forward to seeing what happens next in this new series.

Upper East Side hotel heiress, Pomona Afton, is locked out of her penthouse with no other option than to move in with a roommate after her grandmother’s death. While her trust fund is frozen, she’s stuck with her former nanny’s irritable (and handsome) son Gabe. His apartment lacks a doorman, a chef and space, so Pom and Gabe team up to get her back in her penthouse and out of his hair. What transpires is a fun foray into sussing out the killer.
I was excited for this novel. The premise was like Gossip Girl meets Only Murders in the Building meets Paris Hilton to me, so I signed up. This skews a little younger, so I would say I may not be the intended audience. It was fun and entertaining with a touch of low-key romance. Overall, this would be a fun book to have along for a weekend getaway.

Would you step into someone else’s life if you were invited?

When Lata Murthy keeps receiving emails addressed to her but not her, just someone with the same name she decides to accept the invitations. What harm could it do? Committing to a year of yes, Lata begins her Cinderella journey into the world of socialites and wealthy influencers. It’s a dream come true until Other Lata comes on the scene.
I enjoyed this book for what it was entertainment but some of the parts felt a little over the top and forced. I started finding myself irritated with Other Lata, who was making some seriously dangerous and illegal demands. Nevertheless, it was a fun book that satisfies your cravings for what it’s like to be wrapped up in a world of want, desire and envy.
