This story was set in the 21st century! And she's doing one of the top big no-no's pregnant women are heavily advised against!

I did have issue however with some decisions that were made by the characters, like, why was Ericen acting like a dick at the start when it was made clear that is not part of his nature nor was it necessary should he have been faking, and why was it decided that Thia should take the egg with her into enemy territory rather than leave it with her sister where it would have been safer and had less chance of being discovered, simply because she had more knowledge on crows than her sister? When later in the book Thia gets some crow rearing advice from the head of the Kerova Wing THROUGH HER SISTER! Which means Caliza would have had as much chance to discover the same secret to hatching the egg and had someone with more experience than Thia to raise the crow. If they had presented the excuse that no one else save Thia would have had the time to figure out how to hatch the egg I would have believed and accepted that more.
Over all, good but not great, looking forward to a better sequel...more
