There exists a city which overlays exactly with another city, the citizens of the cities possess a near perfect map of the boundaries of their respectThere exists a city which overlays exactly with another city, the citizens of the cities possess a near perfect map of the boundaries of their respective cities, and have suppressed (by law) the ability to see the other city and its inhabitants. How many cities are like this? How many divisions are created ad upheld by our own society and our own preciously held systems of belief, that create these fractures in society, which beget cities overlayed with other cities? Whence do we derive "us" and "them", and by what instrument to we dole out compassion, concern, schadenfreude to these respective sects?...more

" Yknow this reminds me of the time I was blasting diamond mines in Rhodesia and we had to wake up so early in the morning and the air was think with morning pinks and the air was dead silent and only you could some rustling far off. You see we would get up early to hunt pheasants, that's the only time you could do good game hunting, far off in Rhodesia, yknow. So you'd follow the sound of this rustling and maybe you'd track it down and shoot, and you'd go over and see it was just a cat that you'd shot there in the brush. This reminds me a bit of that."
"What? You know there are some German espionage organization out to kill you too, yea?"
"Oh yes, certainly. It reminds me of this man Art Bilkenkopfstein who I knew in Ceylon. He sold mangoes by the side of the road, and he would tell me every day that you can't trust anybody. No, everybody had the potential to pull one over on you, out there in Ceylon, you know where this is some imperial animosity. I think he might have been a spy but he taught me a lot about trust and now when I look a man in the eye, I can just intuitively tell when he is trustworthy. Those sorts of thing you just pick up when you're out of your home turf."
"I don't really see how that-.."
"Have you ever been to Argentina? The locals will eat fruit right off the tree and roll around in the pampas. Pampas is like grass, I think?"
"You're not concerned that someone is going to kill-"
"There was a time when I was blasting mines in Australia - you know Australia our penal colony, well its just ripe picking for natural resources, who would have thought? Anyway in Australia..."
