My father gave me this book to read shortly after it came out in it's first English translation. While I found the early chapters to be rather a yawn,My father gave me this book to read shortly after it came out in it's first English translation. While I found the early chapters to be rather a yawn, over-wraught with intrigue from turns out to be the novel's sub-plot, the passages with Salander and the actual "meat" of the book were very intriguing and compelling.
In the end, I felt Mr. Larsson would have been better cutting this novel until it bled. But it is still a fine book and, as my rating suggests, I liked it....more
