i don’t really know where to start. this book was SO beautifully written. i loved the way Hanya wrote about the characters & all the complexities eachi don’t really know where to start. this book was SO beautifully written. i loved the way Hanya wrote about the characters & all the complexities each one had. i liked reading about the thought process of each character it was so relatable in some ways. i definitely enjoyed reading this, however, i did feel like the book was a little drawn out. there was some filler that wasn’t needed in order to get the story and main messages across. i also found this book to be a little unrealistic in some ways.
i absolutely loved how Jude had SO MANY PEOPLE in his corner that truly loved and supported him that care that deeply. it was heartbreaking that he didn’t believe he deserved any of the good things he had in his life and in some ways would self-sabotage in order to protect himself. while i loved the main characters in this story, i found it kind of unrealistic that a character like Jude, who is so withdrawn and doesn’t share anything about his personal life (understandably), was able to make so many strong connections and have a gigantic support system. so many of the characters went so out of their way to help him and be there for him which i found so amazing but it seemed unrealistic to me. while reading, i found myself wondering that if Jude was a real person in our real world, would he have that many close friends? especially considering that he grew up with unthinkable trauma & is so closed off. would that many people go above and beyond to help him? i would like to think so, he deservesthe world.
overall i really enjoyed reading this book, it is unlike any book i have ever read. i liked how it wasn’t very romantic and happy ending....more
