Norton is such a great cat with great character and personal charm. In the sense that dogs have owners and cats have servants, Norton's servant Mr Gethers has served him very well indeed. I am so looking forward to the next two volumes.

I enjoyed the early years best. However the way he was hounded by the press throughout his life is pretty horrendous and certainly doesn't change my already low opinion of the scum that are the English tabloids.
If you like football, Manchester United, Biographies or Bestie then read this! I like football, biographies and Bestie, but I'm not a Man U fan!...more

It's basically two essays in which Huxley documents his experiences when taking Mescalin.
I guess I'm a little dull having never dabbled with drugs (well I'm not including alcohol in that though)But unlike Bill Clinton who smoked canabis but never inhaled (allegedly) I never smoked but have inhaled, well I did go to plenty of parties in my youth!
Anyway back to Huxley, I loved this book and I'm sure I will read it again sometime. Maybe I'll even try a tab of acid...............or maybe not! ;-)...more

This story has a great plot that kept me guessing until close to the end. I thought I'd figured everything out halfway through, but I'd probably figured out no more than 30%.
I recommend this book to anyone who simple wants to get themselves lost in a good story...more

It is easily one of the most honest and open biographies I have evr read. Aldrin, Armstrong and Collins (Apollo 11) were my boyhood heroes and remain among my heroes even now. So to see the pain Buzz went through after the moonlanding was shocking and horrible, but to see how he battled and came through it, well I have immense respect for him.
Just to finish this review the incident where he 'deck' the moon landings were a hoax conspiracy theorist is wonderful. In my opinion the guy deserved it. Well done Mr Aldrin!

A lot of the language is somewhat old as James died in 1936. However the story telling is largely brilliant.
Whilst I enjoyed the Dolls House tale my favourite was '13' which is a real scary tale, just the sort to read around a camp fire in the fading light, perhaps on halloween.
The Mezzotint is also a remarkably good ghostly tale
If you haven't read any of these and you like ghost and horror stories give this collection a try.............. or I'll come to your house draped in a white sheet and shout ........BOO!...more

HoraAs many of my friends on GoodReads may have noticed I do enjoy the odd music related autobiography/ biography and this is certainly no exception. Horace’s book is very well written very funny and very insightful. I would go so far as to say it comes close to my favourite music biog of all time (no not a Bowie one!); “Diary Of A Rock ‘n Roll Star by Ian Hunter. “Ska’d For Life should be read by anyone in a band, especially if you’re just starting out, anyone who loves music and obviously anyone who is a big fan of the Specials. There were the usual poignant and laugh out loud moments and having not known much about Horace Panter (or may I call him Alice Pinter) before reading this (well other than knowing he played bass guitar for the Specials) I now find it hard not to like him. So then, great bloke, great book and why the hell have you not read it yet? ...more

This book collects masses of the major conspiracies and discusses them utilising a lot of publicly available information and comment. the book is well written for this type, it is often informative and in my opinion incredibly funny in places. If you have even a passing interest in conspiracy theory you should check it out. The chapter on Montauk was just hilarious. OK so are there any stories in the book that hold a grain of truth in my opinion? Yes there are, notably the death of Marilyn Monroe and the Waco Siege. As a child I used to be taken in by all the alien abduction stories and UFO sightings, now I'm definitely not sure. I mean just think for a moment, we are now in an age where most of the population have a camera on their mobile phone, so why are there hardly any new UFO photos? Anyway it's time for me to go now I have a dinner appointment in a secret moonbase constructed from the Titanic with Elvis Presley, Adolf Hitler, Princess Diana and Marilyn Monroe:-)...more
