i thoroughly loved this, the last 10 pages were particularly enjoyable and i really think this is a read everyone will enjoy regardless of niche/preferred genre. what a great way to start the year!!...more

that doesn’t take away from how beautiful and lyrical it was, but it felt slightly empty sometimes which i can only assume is where the nuance was lost
the concept was enjoyable, though, and understanding the salmon to be a metaphor for the circle of life etc was so lovely - but i just didn’t love it...more

i’m deciding between a 3/4 for this, and i’ve decided on 3 but may rate it higher upon reflection idk yet - the passages are beautiful, but the stories had a tendency to feel slow and uninteresting by a certain point. i think the premise alone forced me to power through in all honesty!
the depiction of a lot of the women was…interesting at times, and there were a few comments here and there that entirely threw me out of whatever space we were in but as a whole, the novel is unique and allows me to feel curious which is something i love dearly

Mira, our MC, is very likeable - we understand her motivations, we understand her character and why she does everything that she does. It didn’t feel like we were being told that she’s strong etc, we were actually shown it multiple times which I appreciate, and I really enjoyed her interactions with other characters
The last 100 pages absolutely bumped this up a star, it was INSANE.
Betrayal after betrayal, literally who do you even trust, I was left on the edge of my seat the entire time and I’m very excited to see what comes next in this series...more
