My heart was aching for my favorite fictional found family, and then it was warmed by them. There were times I was laughing out loud... I am so glad I saved this for my December layoff reading. There was a lot happening in this book, but Ward is in my opinion so masterful in twining parallel stories, and creating connection at just the right moment. Things could really be easy, yet Ward creates just enough struggle before reacting an outcome. And then there is Lassiter... my angel... the weight of so much on his shoulders...more
