it was ok
bookshelves: historical-fiction, young-adult

I was all set to LOVE this book. I loved A Northern Light, and I love historical fiction, not to mention the fact that I was a French major and studied abroad in Paris. However, I absolutely could not STAND the main character, the modern-day narrator, Andi. I found her voice overly dramatic and whiny, and while many people who don't read young adult fiction often might think that's how teenagers should sound, I could not disagree more. Though I know she's depressed, she was so frustrating I didn't really care. The action didn't really pick up until the book was almost over, so it took me ages to get into it. Overall, I was just disappointed.

Tatiana Oh, yes, I couldn't stand her either.

Tara Chevrestt I'm on page 115 and I HATE her. Can you believe the way she talks to adults?? I woulda been slapped. Please tell me this is not how teenagers behave nowadays. I mean, I feel sorry that her brother is dead but she is throwing a HUGE pity party. It's awful. I'm struggling to finish.
