“Graceling meets Selection Whatever marketing team came up with that tag for this series clearly never read the book. Red Queen is Game of Thrones with Katniss as the Mockingjay with X-Men in a tantalizing YA twist of magical perfection.

description

Three quotes that summarize this series spoiler-free:

”Anyone can betray anyone. Meet the Lannisters Silver Court and their current royal family.

”Make no mistake, my girl. You are playing the game as someone’s pawn.

”I am a fool.

Sooooooooo My initial reaction:

description

I have to wait another year??? Let me repeat: I HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER YEAR???

…Yeaaaaa, I'm totally cool with that. Not.

Alright. Now to my actual thoughts on this book. I marked the whole thing as a spoiler because I am lazy but yea, trust me when I say you don’t want this ruined (so read on at your own peril):

(view spoiler)

OMG I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!

I swear I saw like everything coming (view spoiler) and yet every time something happened I was jumping up and down screaming anyway because even though I thought I suspected there were so many things pointing in different directions I got caught up in maybe this-or maybe she wants me to think this- or maybe she thinks that she wants me to think this but it's actually this-triangle. EPIC! I just loved this book so freaking much. It was YA Game of Thrones and it was BEAUTIFUL.

Priscila I can't wait to get my hands on this!

Aj the Ravenous Reader Okay, I'm gonna have to stop reading your comments, Melissa and Rachel. I have a great fear of spoilers. Lol. Enjoy fangirling, you guys! <3

OMG. READ IT!!! It's medieval-dystopia-fantasy. Did you ever read The Queen of the Tearling? It's like that type of setting, future but medieval monarchy & mostly materials/etc. I didn't love that book at all, but this... OMG. So good:) I definitely recommend reading it!!! Thanks Lola:)

Esthela Gómez It's like Red Rising? I LOVE RS but I don't want to be comparing the two.

I haven't read that one yet:( But I have a reviewer on my feed who got angry saying they felt like it was a copy of that. But to each his own, and I absolutely adored this book!

Melissa "Graceling Meets Selection"

I hate when they do that. Like trying to remake the same types of book. And personally I got offended with this specific one. I haven't read the Selection but I've read some reviews and boy are they wrong. This is on a whole other playing field.

message 16: by AJ (new) - added it

AJ X MEN?!?!??! You had me at X MEN. I should read this now.

message 17: by Jack (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jack Reynolds This gives me slight hope that it will be really good. I'm a bit worried that it might turn out to be another one of those stereo-typical dystopian/fantasy novels, but from the looks of it, it might be different.

Hey if she wants to hire me to market it I would so do that. I promote books & authors I love for free & this is easily my new favorite since Hunger Games... Shatter Me was sooo close (and I love Warner more than Maven still) but I like the plot of this series better. So yea Victoria Aveyard is my new favorite & I will be that crazy obsessed fangirl at midnight. I remember hearing about her book deal when I was querying agents and I was so jealous so I looked her stats up and all I have to say is her deal and success is well-deserved. I get how some people might not be a fan for their own reasons but for me this was literally my dream book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melissa Oh Yeah. This hands down my favorite epic fantasy I have read to date and it will take a freaking miracle for some book to knock it down.

I actually saw her blog. She had said that like 3 of 4 days after she sold the book she got a call to make it into a movie so yeah, I'm expecting great thing from her. I can't believe she's younger than me lol

Omygosh thank you Arfina!!! I am so glad not be alone on the Mare/Maven ship, I just.. I loved their scenes so much, you know they had great chemistry. Did you see this yet? I'm still up in the air whether Victoria is enjoying breaking our hearts or if she is also secretly pro-Maven and will give us what we want later on:))) And this book... words can't express how many feels I have. I already want to reread it lol. That is the true test of a great book.

Right?! Mare and Mavey had the best chemistry, they had such genuine nice scenes, probably why it hurts the most! Does it feel like the book kind of left us feeling like there was no going back? Omg she replied to you Rachel!! In a way Victoria kind of confirmed that this ship won't be sinking! I don't feel like touching another book so soon yet, I feel like rereading it again as well haha.

Pearl Angeli Hi Rachel! Amazing review. :) Is there a romantic plot in this book? And is there any swoonworthy guy here? Hehe
