's review

really liked it

ive seen this book pop up on my feed quite a bit recently and, even though i read it years ago, i cant believe i never posted a review for it! better late than never. lol.

a quick google search will show that anywhere between 25-40% of the worlds population are introverts and i feel so proud to be considered part of such an outstanding group. this book didnt necessarily teach me anything i didnt already know about myself, but it was very neat to see how i can turn my introvertedness into a strength, especially when so many consider a more reserved nature to be a sign of weakness. and because i could relate to literally everything in this book, i have constantly returned to it from time to time over the years, revisiting marked pages, highlights, and notes i made when i first read it.

i found this is to be a very informative, eye-opening and thoroughly researched book. its a definite must read for all of my fellow introverts!!

Lucy Brilliant review, Jessica!! I related to lots of things in the book too 😊

jessica awww. yay! so happy you could connect with this book! its such a great feeling! :)

India M. Clamp Exceptional read!

jessica i completely agree!

Allwynne Awesome review! I personally only sorta liked this book. Maybe its because I'm pretty extroverted and a psych major, so that brought down the value for me? I just felt like it was repetitive, and was too "pop psychology"-esque for my liking... but I do like that there is a book for the often undervalued/under appreciated introvert to have and enjoy. :)

jessica those are all very valid points and i can understand how you might not enjoy this as much as other people. i hope you find and read a book about the awesomeness of extroverts! :P

ellie I’ve never heard of this but going by your review, I need it!! Thank you for bringing attention to it :))

len ❀ adding this to my tbr. the title had me at "introvert" but now i'm more convinced after your review, especially where you said "it was very neat to see how i can turn my introvertedness into a strength, especially when so many consider a more reserved nature to be a sign of weakness" because i think that needs to be said out loud more so people can understand.

jessica ellie - ohhhh! im so glad youre considering reading it! i hope you enjoy it! :)

maggie - yesss! i think this is the kind of book that everyone needs to read. extroverts will be able to better understand the nature of introverts, and introverts will feel seen and relatable. a win-win for everyone! i hope you get a chance to read it soon! :)

J & J Yay for introverts!!!! In a "social media" obsessed society, the world could use more introverts! Too bad we won't assemble to talk about it...LOL

jessica hahaha. right?! just thinking about getting together already exhausts me. lol.

maria loved your review, and now i can't wait to read this!

jessica woohoo!! cant wait to see what you think of it! i hope you get a chance to read it soon! :)

8stitches 9lives Great review, Jessica. I also stand forth as a proud & unapologetic introvert. It's sad that it often gets confused as anti-social or snobbish / standoffishness.

jessica yuppp. i have heard it all, from being stuck up to being a loner, when thats not the case. i think being introverted is something more people need to understand!

Isabelle | Nine Tale Vixen introverts unite! ... separately. in your own personal spaces. 😂

but in all seriousness, this book always reminds me of the time we were discussing lord of the flies in english class, and everyone else unanimously agreed that good leaders have to be extroverts. (literally everyone. I was the only holdout, which was weird considering I know at least a few of the others identified as introverts too!) I didn't read this book until years later, but it always makes me feel vindicated - especially the part where Cain describes the ways and situations in which introverts may actually be better leaders than extroverts!

jessica hahaha. yes!! thats the only we can unite! :P

and thats such an interesting personal experience. i think before this book, i would have felt extroverts were better suited to being leaders. but youre right. there are many ways introverts can excel in those particular areas, and the book shows that wonderfully!
