I listened to an audiobook narrated by Adam (Walter Zimmerman) and Eve (Cindy Hardin). It is only 1hr 8min long. Give yourself a treat. You will chuckle through the whole thing.

One of the funniest things I have heard in a long, long time. Everybody needs to laugh.

What's it about? Well, do any woman or mans see eye to eye on anything? We are different; let's just admit it. We of the feminine sex talk......and talk and talk and talk. To us something is important just for its beauty. And the men, well listen to what Adam has to say.

I had no idea Mark Twain wrote such a book! He certainly understood the different sexes.

Dhanaraj Rajan I still remember the way he narrated the woman's love for beauty and her capacity for being a creative person (specially with the naming of animals).

Chrissie Yes, yes, yes!! and I love how for Adam everything has to be for a purpose, useful. It is also quite good how she, Eve, tries to see things his way. She loves fire for its beauty but realizes that it could even be useful, someday, maybe in the future. I LOVED how she kept discovering new words.....and she knew she was better at this than him. And I loved how she liked to do experiments and figure things out. The excitement of being given a new puzzle to solve. Him....he just wanted a little peace and privacy and excitement and sports. It was funny how he tried to figure out what Cain was - fish? kangaroo? bear? Very good book. Such imagination.

Thanks for telling me of it.

Dhanaraj Rajan I too remember how Adam tried to figure out Cain and Abel. Lol...

I am happy that you liked it.

Chrissie Dhanaraj, I REALLY liked it. (((Dhanaraj))) who ever thought Mark Twain wrote this and nobody talks of it.

Laura, thank Dhanaraj; he is the one who told me abut it.

Thanks, I'll keep you both posted!

Chrissie Dhanaraj, I see you rated it four stars too. Could you explain your name? Is it from a particular country? It doesn't sound Italian, but maybe it is.

Great, Laura.

Dhanaraj Rajan @ Chrissie: I am a Tamil from Tamil Nadu (a state in south of India). I am in Rome for my studies and after which I return to my country (probably in the coming August). My name in my language (Tamil) literally means 'King of Riches.'

Chrissie I have had such a hard time remembering how to spell it. now that I understand what it means, it will be easier to remember. How long have you been studying in Rome?

Dhanaraj Rajan Last two years I am in Rome. This is my third and final year.

Chrissie I was in a small art exhibit i Rome once and walking right in front of us was Berlusconi!

Do you travel around Italy while you are there? I loved Padua.

Dhanaraj Rajan Yes. I travel whenever I get a chance around Italy. Padua is one of the cities that I have visited many times. I will be visiting it also this year immediately after Christmas.

Chrissie I loved the painted ceilings in several "mini-cathedrals". I am sure you will have fun, surrounded by such beautiful things!!!!!!

Diane S ☔ Reading this now.Needed something funny. Love how she calls them both the experiments.

Chrissie I don't remember that line, but I thought the whole reading experience was super funny. Who would have thought that this fabulous book by Twain was out there, and I knew NOTHING about it. Isn't it good?! I laughed a lot.

Caroline Chrissie, I also had no idea about this gem until I stumbled upon a used copy at a book event. More people need to read this.

Chrissie Oh gosh, you and I have exactly the same response tot his book! Why has this book received so little acclaim?! Have you read Twain's Joan of Arc? He considered that his best book. Again few know of it, but honestly I adore this one on Adam and Eve maybe best. Huck and Tom are memorable of course.

No! I've never heard of his JOA! Thanks for letting me know. I actually just found out about two of his little known ones called Roughing It and The Mysterious Stranger. I'd never heard of these, but I like what I hear from the blurbs. It's a shame--and, I think, strange--that more of his work isn't known. He's a fabulous writer.

Chrissie Exactly. All you ever hear about is Tom and Huck! I wouldn't say I loved JoA but since he considered it his best book I wanted to give it a try. I also wanted to read it b/c I love Rouen. I am going to go check out the other two you mention here. Thanks.

Chrissie Hmm, re Roughing It : Here is a review of a friend one can trust: /review/show...

Cannot decide.

Lisa Vegan The Prince and the Pauper is another famous one. It has a lot of later books, movies, etc. based on it.

Chrissie That one I knew of. I read it ages ago. I don't know if I really want to do a reread.

Chrissie, I read your review, but I'm not so sure I'd like JOA based on what you (and others) said. I'm not as into history; I like more character-based stories, and I'm actually surprised Twain wrote a book like JOA because it seems to me that he was a master at writing fantastic characters readers remember forever.

Caroline Lisa wrote: "The Prince and the Pauper is another famous one. It has a lot of later books, movies, etc. based on it."

I think I may own that one.

Chrissie Caroline, I think you have to be interested in the history to enjoy JoA, so I don't think you should add it. I LOVE that people can fit books to the right people, not just judge a book as being good or bad.

Donna Nice review, Chrissie. I'm glad you enjoyed this book, too. Have you seen all the illustrations yet, especially in Eve's Diary? They add so much to the story.
