So... I don't really know what to say.
I think I loved this book, but for a reason beyond my understanding, it never hooked me, and it took me AGES to finish it! Some chapters (especially at the beginning) were tedious and hard for me to get through them... but then there were some chapters that I devoured (the whole Tom Robinson trial and the last ones).
I definitely learned a lesson or two from this book. Atticus is my new role model, he is really incredible. I also love Scout and Jem, those kids will be in my heart forever. Oh! And I loved the Boo Radley storyline, it left me in awe.
This book surely deserves 5 solid stars, and I kinda feel bad for giving it 4 stars, but the thing is... I was struggling to finish it, I swear I let out a relieved sigh when I read the last sentence.
But all in all, it was a great read <3. And can't tell you how much I loved the last chapters, (view spoiler).

Eso mismo si, Samzara! Apenas este a?o me estoy aventurando un poquito con los cl¨¢sicos :) Pero Dracula lo tengo que leer en unos 4-5 a?os a fuerzas, hay muchas cosas que estoy segura, no capte bien XD

Carolina, tu misma te vas dando cuenta cuando quieres leer algo mas denso, tu mismo cerebro te lo dice, te lo aseguro XD as¨ª me esta pasando a mi XD
Creo que te costo mucho terminarlo porque estas acostumbrada al leer libros contemporaneos que tienen otra estructura ^^

Me senti exactamente igual! Los primeros capitulos fueron un poco tedioso pero para la mitad ya estaba enganchada y lo ultimo fue simplemente bello. Pero le di 4 estrellas tambien porque no me gust¨® por partes.
I completely understand. It took me awhile and at times felt tedious too but it still is one of my favorites.
The reason it takes a while to read it is because it is a classic. Most teens, like myself, are accustomed to read YA novels (which are very easy and fast to read) classics take a bit of effort
It is poorly written. Harper's writing is quite pretentious.
I feel exactly the same way, the first part of the book was kind of "meh" but those last chapters were very good!! also 4 stars because I didn't "love" it. I feel like being american (or not) has a lot to do with loving this book.
I'm currently reading it... and it's a bless to see that someone else also struggles with... I began in February... I love the writing and I traveled for 1 month since then... but I can't wait to finish it!!! haha

Exactly how I felt about it. I went from bored to shocked to upset to tears to smile. But, definitely took some life lessons from it.
Yeah I totally agree with you... I've read both the Chinese version and the English version of this book. Though I was aware that the book has a good theme, I still felt both versions were tedious...
It also felt like it was taking me a long time to get through this but I think this was because of the font size in my edition. The edition that I read was fairly slim at 309 pages but crammed a lot of words into a page and that made me feel like it should have been a quicker read than it actually was because it was taking me longer to finish a page than usual

I feel the exact same way. When I first started reading it I wasn't sure if I'd be able to finish the book. I'm glad I did though, all in all it was a great read, but some parts just bored me to death.
La escena de Scout afuera de la casa de Boo Radley me produjo una sensaci¨®n de que Scout habia madurado, que ahora miraba ya de otro modo las cosas, que algo en ella habia cambiado una vez que habia conocido a Boo Radley. Esa escena a mi parecer Harper Lee la describio de modo que uno entendia a qu¨¦ se referia Scout.

honestly I have to agree. It was not a book I couldn't put down. I did put it down. Many times for other books. However, I finished it and I'd say that halfway through the book is where it really got interesting.
I nearly cried at that last bit too!
I wholehearted agree, this book was difficult to complete because at times it could get repetitive, however I really enjoyed Scouts character and how her personality developed throughout the book.

Desde hace tiempo quiero leerlo, lo compre en la primera oportunidad que tuve, cuando lo comenc¨¦ ,hace m¨¢s o menos 3 a?os, me paso lo mismo, no me engancho y me sent¨ªa decepcionada, incluso no lo termin¨¦, es m¨¢s creo que solo le¨ª 3 cap¨ªtulos. 3 a?os despu¨¦s lo retom¨¦, y estoy fascinada, me encanta y lo estoy disfrutando mucho.

The last chapter had me crying
I felt the same way - it took me such a long time to read this book unlike others but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I¡¯m so glad that I wasn¡¯t the only one who thought this about this popular and well-loved book.
I am halfway through and struggling. I haven't even got to the trial yet. I am listening to it, I know I would never make it through reading it.
