My, I didn't see that twist coming at all. Review much later, not until new US release date. Sorry.

Terry I really liked this one by her but I think that The Winter Sea (Sophie's Choice) was my favorite that I have read by this author so far. I have a few other of her books on my TBR pile.

I know, I know. I want to read that but still no luck with the library and I don't want to pay overseas shipping :/

Terry I meant Sophia's Secret - my library system has a copy of this book - that's how I read it. Did you try ILL? Do they have Mariana?

Elizabeth I've read Marianna and The Shadowy Horses. I found them entertaining - the sort of story to pass on to my old mum as a good read and not have to worry.

I believe The Winter Sea and Sophia's Secret are the same book, just different titles. I had a purchase request in once but it eventually disappeared from my hold list and nothing ever happened. Library has a few of her others, including Shadowy Horses. I had that out once and started it but M. Dumas Pere' was calling me. Will have to try another day. I just keep getting distracted.

Naomi Misfit...it is up today. I just requested it.

Thanks, I spotted it this morning *fingers crossed*

ETA, I just got approved. Now to wait for it to get emailed to my Kindle account and back to me.

Naomi Oh, Oh..hope I get it..I have enjoyed everything I have read of hers.

Naomi Got it. They just approved me.

Misfit Yay!

Terry Hope you both love it.

Misfit Thanks Terry. Looking forward to it.

Hannah Kearsley always gets me with her twists.

Glad you liked this one.

Misfit She really surprised me with this one. Wow.

Christy B I frackin' loved the ending!

Misfit I know. I did not see that coming at all. No way. I love it when an author can throw you off the hunt like that.

Me, too. I was glad (view spoiler).

Jemidar But that's what I didn't like about this one. It was so bleedin' obvious!!

message 19: by Anna (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anna Butting in to say, J, really?? I'm with Misfit, Christy and Hannah, I didn't see the twist coming at all. I had to go back and re-read parts just to see where I'd missed any clues!

Jemidar Yeah, I'm afraid so. (view spoiler)

It might be why I enjoyed this one less than her others, and also why I seem to swim against the tide of it's popularity. Don't get me wrong, I still really liked it but I love the others more :-).

Misfit I'm tempted to read through some of it again and see what I missed.

Dianne lol rub it in Misfit! This is the main book I am waiting for this year

Anna Misfit, there are a couple of clues on a re-read, but they're subtle; only the proper smart arses will have spotted them first time round *cough* Jemidar *cough* ;-)

Misfit Dianne wrote: "lol rub it in Misfit! This is the main book I am waiting for this year"

It's up on Net Galley.

@ Anna, I'm sure I'll spot the clues with a reread, although I think your assessment of Jemidar is spot on :p

Hannah Anna wrote: "Misfit, there are a couple of clues on a re-read, but they're subtle; only the proper smart arses will have spotted them first time round *cough* Jemidar *cough* ;-)"

LMAO!! Yeah, just what I thought, too, Anna!

@Jenny: you're just too astute for us dunderheads
:D

Jemidar ;-D.

Misfit BTW, Kearsley gets serious brownie points from me for her comments here,

Carol Kerry-Green Just reread this one couple of weeks ago, and even though I knew the twist this time around, it didn't spoil it. Definitely one of my faves.

Laura I didn't see the twist either - I loved it!
