Lady of the Lake is an unfortunately poor conclusion to one of the finest fantasy series ever written. Sapkowski attempts to mix in too many new things, his transitions between times and places are very poorly executed and quite overused, and everything about the ending itself is either too much of a cliché, or simply ridiculous.

I've stayed with this saga for many years now, and it remains one of my favourites. Especially the knowledge that the game series takes the franchise to perfection, is a comfort.

Mayim de Vries So sadly true. I gave one more star for the sake of the whole series.

I think I warned you: the worst book of the series.

You're too kind. I have no intention of being merciful.

I think you did. I don't really mind, though. The third game is a perfect ending anyway.

Celise Yep.
You've given me hope about the third game fixing things at least.

Nelson I'm still playing Blood & Wine before the ending >__<

Oh, it fixes things. It's probably the best fantasy rpg ever made.

I still have yet to play the dlc. I should get it soon!

Mary-rose I thought Lady of the Lake was wonderful. Probably my favourite of the saga - so cleverly written, poetic, moving.

Stefania Precisely how I felt about this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts - I was starting to believe it was only in my head that I don't really get his writing style and that he slightly failed his last books.

Jon I read the books, watched the Netflix tv series and played the Witcher 3 game at the same time, and I find it ironic that I like the original books the least. Ciri is so unlikable in the novels.

I'd agree to some extent, as I consider the games in general and Witcher 3 in particular to be the apex of the series :)

Joey Carneiro I agree. It was a poor conclusion. It stagnated a lot in Touissant, especually for being the concluding book.

Markus Glad to hear an assenting voice! It wasn't a bad book, just a disappointing conclusion.

Deckmaster I totally agree. The ending was such a let down. At least we have the games for a fitting conclusion as you said. And thank goodness I discovered them before the books.
