really liked it
bookshelves: fiction, krasznahorkai

Once again, I wrote a full review and then, as I was about to save it, I accidently changed screens and deleted it. It was brilliant. It really was. I spent two hours on it.

I even made some great connections to Goethe's Faust (Easter bells announcing the resurrection and 'Walpurgisnacht') and to Nietzsche's eternal return.

I believe that I have captured the spirit of the book by deleting the review. Absurd.

I highly recommend it.

Bertrand That happens to me on a regular basis too.

withdrawn Yeah. I've rewritten a few but I no longer have the patience. From now on it's all about stoic acceptance.

message 3: by Bertrand (new)

Bertrand Well I actually started to write my reviews in a word document so as to avoid the issue... and then I started taking notes throughout my reading, so the reviews reached unholy lengths, and now I am back to writing them short enough that GR wont have time to crash!

withdrawn But your longer reviews were very good. I quite enjoyed the in depth analysis.

message 5: by Bertrand (new)

Bertrand Thanks! Truth be told however, I tend, past a certain critical mass, to find it near impossible to organize my thoughts, especially with non-fiction... I will hopefully learn with time!

message 6: by Jan (new)

Jan I agree with the use of word document first to avoid losing the entire review

withdrawn Yes Jan. I'm getting better at that. Less pain.

Lisa I believe you have indeed captured the spirit of it. I seem to have deleted the book from my shelf in the meantime, but I am sure I read it. I have it at home, at least, holding it right now. Deleted from memory, too. I will (re)read, write a review, delete it, and recommend it as well.

withdrawn Thanks Lisa. I would be quite happy to read a review by you of Satantango. I hope that you get to it soon.

message 10: by Paul (new)

Paul Gibson I haven't read the book but my bet is that this is a very good review :)

withdrawn Thanks Paul

Fionnuala I have the book, RK, though it lies unread. Now I feel the stirrings of a desire to write a truly absurd review about it.
See where your deleted review has taken me!
