I really enjoyed this installment in the Lunar Chronicles, but I didn't think it was as good as Cinder. I was annoyed reading about Scarlet throughout this book. We really didn't get to know her, we only saw her concerned about her grandmother and wolf. I did love the sections that were focused on Cinder though! I also really liked how the two story lines came together. I'm looking forward to jumping into Cress!

Victoria I agree!

Diego Jose I likes more scarlet than cinder and CRESS is even better. But i guess it is just about each person's opinion

Emma Cress is my favorite out of all of them :)

Amanda I enjoyed scarlet more than cinder. Waiting on the library for cress. Cannot wait

Izza I agree! :) I liked cinder the best :) cress was pretty good too

Katie I think Cress is my favorite, but Scarlet's a close second. In Cress, soooo many questions are answered!

Janel Scarlet is my favorite! The parts with thorn and cinder were so fun to read about

Drew The Reviewer scarlet and wolf annoy me a lot but cress is such an awesome charactee

Matthew Allen I felt the same way. Cress is better, but still has some of the same problems. Although, I enjoyed the character of Cress more than Scarlet.

Tiffany Liu Cress is the best book so far!

Jazmin Jade I agree! Cinder was far better than Scarlet. I haven't decided if I like Cress the most though.

Pamela D Im enjoying cress a lot ( almost over) but scarlet and cinder are equally good for me... I think the problem with the second book is that we wanna know more about cinder and instead we are presented with a whole new story. Glad u like it :)

Mhay I felt the same way about Scarlett.

Kirsten flinn I did enjoy the sections about Cinder ALOT more, but I felt like Scarlet was a better for over all. Cinder, for me, was too predictable and the character development was weak. In scarlet you got to see more development from Cinder while also seeing new characters and a new story, which was much more developed and less predictable than Cinder. If a book is predictable to me, it ruins my whole opinion about it, so that might be why, but Scarlet, in my opinion, is better.

Kirsten flinn Captain Thorne is lay favorite character in the book

Patricia Yes, I liked Cinder more than Scarlet too. But I still liked the overall story. The only thing that threw me of from the book is the quick relationship between Scarlet and Wolf. They just knew each other for a week and they already all over each other. I'm excited for you to read Cress. You're going to love it!

May Cho So glad you're liking the series so far! Cress is much more intricate and exciting!

message 18: by Lily (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lily Beeson-Norwitz Cress is defiantly so much better. Scarlet's P.O.V. isn't really that interesting in my opinion. Cress is a more exciting character.

Jesse (JesseTheReader) Patricia wrote: "Yes, I liked Cinder more than Scarlet too. But I still liked the overall story. The only thing that threw me of from the book is the quick relationship between Scarlet and Wolf. They just knew each..."

Yeah! That was the same issue I had.

Gretal I felt the same way the first time I read this book. I wasn't really interested in Scarlet's story, but when I reread it recently, I got so much more into it and now I like this book more than Cinder.

Diego Jose Are you going to record a booktalk about it??

message 22: by Lucky (new)

Lucky I felt the same. I enjoyed Cinder. Scarlet, not so much, except for the parts with Cinder and Thorne. Really excited for you to read Cress. :)

message 23: by josh (new) - rated it 4 stars

josh That's weird. I love Scarlet 10x better than Cinder

CRESS IS BETTER THAN ALL OF THEM

Garrett Curbow I liked Cinder, Loved Scarlet, and I still haven't finished Cress after about a year of being stuck on it

Sophie Noel I felt the same way about Scarlet! But just wait until Cress, it's incredible!

Azael Carrera Scarlet < Cinder < Cress

Tabby H totally the same on this book! but you are gonna love cress!

maack I totally agree with your review! Describes my feelings to the point. Cress is sooo much better though!

Dana Salinger I just watched your review on youtube and I love how you pointed out how bad ass these chicks all are! I love that this series is a great tale of girl power! Even the villian is a powerful (but crazy) female! And yeah, Cress is fantastic so I hope you enjoy!

Rachael So I thought cinder was a trilogy! Now I see the fourth one comes out in November. WHAT?!

Rachael So I thought cinder was a trilogy! Now I see the fourth one comes out in November. WHAT?!

Daniella Rojas same same same, It kind of annoyed me the Scarlet scenes and I found myself waiting to Thorne and Cinder to come on the next chapter tbh

Keith I had a completely different experience. I like Scarlet as a heroine better than Cinder, her from the first book at least.

Nicole Am I the only one who gets a kick out of Thorn?? I mean I really enjoy the others too but Thorns like the comic relief.

Nadine D. Kwok The best thing about Scarlett is Wolf. I want to know more about him. Also, Cinder is better in Scarlett than in Cinder.

Catlikesbooks I like all the books! Can not weight for Winter

message 40: by Lily (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lily Maez Definitely! I'd give it a 3.5 stars if I could..
It was a nice read but not my favorite.
Still going to continue with the series since I've heard it only gets better!

message 41: by Una (new) - added it

Una I'm really enjoying this series! I was wondering if people could recommend other books similar to this one.

Sophia Scarlet (book and character) is much better than Cinder(book and character) for me tho. I was much much more enticed with Scarlet's story and idk why i found Cinder's parts boring

Viktoria You managed to put my EXACT thoughts in this review! Thanks, Jesse!!

Georgia Brenner On page 338 of scarlet. So freaki'n good!

Sammyheartsbooks I 100% agree! I loved reading Cinder. the fact that Cinder was in every other chapter sometimes 2 on a row was what even motivated me to continue reading. well also I wanted to finish the Chronicles!
Scarlett was everything but what others portrayed her to be asking with what the author wanted you to believe.
Selfish, in tittled, reckless, nieve, and dependant was my impression. I literally had a throbbing passion off dislike for this girl. I have NEVER experienced such a passion. smh lol

mimish100 I totally agree with you. I was kinda dreading about reading about Scarlet, and couldn't wait for Cinder's PoV!

Poulomi Mandal Oh GOD! Finally!!! I was waiting for someone to point out the same thing!!!! We barely got to see Scarlet...
Thats such a relief that people saw that too..
SO glad that you guys are seeing that too!! Didnt you feel rushed, like we were supposed to just accept Scarlet like that?

Courtneyannebooks i agree with you jesse !!!

Kaitlyn I feel the same. Scarlet just seemed like a whiney brat!

Kelsey This book definitely suffered from second book slump. Did you finish reading the series? I'd love to know if it's worth continuing
