“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it. Use your words wisely and support trans lives.
- Definitely not JKR

I love Harry Potter as much as anyone, which is why I urge everyone who spends money on these books to also support the trans community.

To say it with the author's words: “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. Well.

Here’s a list of organisations that support trans lives (feel free to reach out and recommend more). Every penny counts:

because Black trans lives matter.

JKR just knows what moves and occupies our minds. And she puts her finger on it.

Sikai Are there any LGBT characters in this series?

Yes there are but it's never actually mentioned that they are anything but straight. Rowling released the information after the series ended.

William Hughes I couldn't have said it better Kai. Thank you <3

Glyn Ashworth-Cobban Reads Is this the only book that you actually learn anything about Ravenclaw?

It's the only one where you learn about Rowena and her daughter.

Naitik vaswani your review is awesome ,I agree

kavya ♡ can I ask why the sudden announcement on this particular review? did something happen? I strongly support the trans community, of course, but this does feel sort of random here. did I miss something?

also what's the Sirius quote supposed to mean in this context? I'm practically clueless!

it means that for a while now jkr has been tweeting transphobic bullshit. She did it again last night. I'd written 5 star reviews of HP in the past so I thought I'd use them to fight her own stupid bigotry

Jamie Scott it hurts ... for somebody who used to inspire ... what an absolute riot she is. x

message 23: by kavya (new)

kavya ♡ @Kai...yep, got it. I went through the tweets and your other reviews after posting that comment, and appalling doesn't even begin to cover it. Thanks SO much for doing this, it's inspiring and admirable and 100% warranted at this point. For bringing this to my (and dozens of other people who don't actively follow her/use twitter I guess) attention via your platform. Decided to remove my (highly positive) ratings and follow suit as well, I don't feel comfortable with them still up. It's just...depressing, really:(

And great going with the idea. Her attitude's just disgusting and she deserves to be called out - more than called out! - for it. Kudos to you for doing this. The crap from yesterday was the last straw. About freaking time. Fuck you, Joanne.

message 24: by Frank (new) - rated it 1 star

Frank Never liked HP or JK. Guess I was ahead of my time!

rye This review was so amazing and it is all sooooo true! You said it so well, and I agree with @Jamie Scott, she used to be so inspiring!!!

message 28: by teageli (new)

teageli I’ve always love the hp series but jkr is... :( And to think she used to be my role model :(( I will always love HP though, even if the author’s attitude makes me sick to the core. I strongly support transgender rights and jkr is just

message 29: by teageli (new)

teageli *loved

Harper J Way to insinuate trans people are “inferior with that quote of yours, terf bigot 🙄

message 31: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Radigan A lot of people have opinions you dislike. That's life. If you want real discomfort, look at the pictures taken of naked little girls by Lewis Carroll. My late mother saw them on display and didn't like them.

Subahar Ariyarasa What review? I don't see a proper review here at all
