Sweetheart (Archie Sheridan & Gretchen Lowell, #2)

Loved this book for the same reasons I loved the first.
The relationship between Gretchen and Archie is exceptionally well done. There is something about flawed characters who are aware of their flaws that is compelling. The supporting characters are also interesting.
I read quite a bit and as a result often see the plot twists coming, but Cain somehow managed to surprise me (and more than once) in this sequel to Heartsick.
The only weakness is the convergence of the background stories, which is choke-full of coincidence (similar to the first in that respect), but I was so invested in the characters and their story that the background story's flaws seemed less important.
I could see this being adapted by HBO. The chemistry between the characters is absolutely phenomenal and something that I value in a book.
I haven't been this excited about a series in a long time, and I can't wait to read the third book in the series.

Thanks, Caroline. It's always exciting when you come across an author who seems to be writing just for you.
