'tis the season...
13 TALES OF TERROR: BOOK 2
read during my Social Work Years
I Remember: a young lad's journey into the dark side... abuse & degradation, times a million... droolingly graphic depictions of rape, pederasty, blood, piss, shit, the whole kit & kaboodle... bikers & whores & drug addicts, oh my!... is that some form of Stockholm Syndrome or is this the kid's true destiny?... everything is so fuckin ugly... i feel sick... i suppose Delany had his reasons.
i later gave this to a colleague who loves Delany. he enjoyed the book a lot. he called it "tender" - at least near the end of the novel. apparently it was tender enough to bring a few tears to his eyes. huh. maybe i have a heart of steel. or a low threshold for such things.
ours is not to wonder why...

i built it as a lure! come on in, the water's fine!

I wonder how many actually make more sense since he's taken his ball and gone home.

no way! i definitely miss people.

I know, eh? Why he had to delete in a way that took everything with him, heaven alone knows, but never mind, that's water under the bridge now.
As to Hogg, I agree, even though I couldn't even make it to the half-way mark.... :P

still doesn't feel good though.

To be honest, the problem is that GR doesn't give the option to pick and choose. Its either all or nothing and there are comments in groups I wouldn't want floating around if I were not around to see where the group is going (mew members, etc).
I don't think most people even thought about the effect on book conversation threads.

But hey, I really enjoyed BB's reviews although I'm a bit more circumspect this time around.
I suppose he had his own good reasons and i know its not for me to judge.
This is actually a weird set-up. Though we view our comments as our own, we shouldn't forget that other people invest time and trouble and perhaps even to some extent emotionally in conversations that they had with us, and deleting your part of such conversations, seems to me, to dismiss the fact that these were two-way conversations, and that removing half of the conversation is actually pretty rude to the other person.
Since BB liked to review politics and history, which generated a lot of debate, which some people might even have bookmarked for later reference, deleting the reviews not only represents a loss in terms of the fact that one cannot refer back to the review itself anymore, but also the fact that entire discussions were deleted in the comment threads along with the reviews.
