The Becoming of Noah Shaw (The Shaw Confessions, #1)

No one could be as disappointed as me. I adored the Mara Dyer series, and while I was hesitant of this series at first, I was also excited because hello! It’s a series about Noah Shaw! About Noah Shaw, told by Noah Shaw. I really used to love Noah.
Now, after reading? I’m just meh. Nothing. I didn’t care about Noah or Mara or anyone else in the book. I didn’t care about the story. About anything. Everything was just mediocre? Borderline annoying? I don’t know.
Most of the novel is slow. It’s not even that long, but it felt like I was waiting forever for something to happen, and by the time something did, I didn’t care. I couldn’t bring myself to. I think part of this has to do with the fact that I hated Noah’s point of view. I thought I would love it, but god, I just could not stand him. Guess it really hindered everything else lmao.
So! Overall, whatever. If you liked the Mara Dyer series, I’m pretty sure most of you will like this spin-off. I think it’s unnecessary but eh, who cares. 3 stars.

i'd have loved to see something new from Hodkin.
i'm still excited but only slightly less so.
Exactly, my first thought was "no new idea, taking the easy way out". Still pre-ordered and we will see how good it is.
Funny side-note, I wanted to recommend this to my family, who would read it in German translation, the first book was published in translation 2013 - and that is the only one. Contacted the publisher and got a nice answer, that it is not planned to translate the next books for publication... Talk about a lost sale.
