it was amazing
bookshelves: nonfiction, health-nutrition, five-star-nonfiction

I have read this book at least half a dozen times! It has been the most helpful nutrition book I've ever had. I bought it after reading The China Study, which itself was excellent but doesn't give info on what exactly to eat and why. In Eat to Live, Fuhrman explains clearly exactly why animal products are not best for our bodies. He also explains how the best way to choose healthy foods is based on nutrient density per calorie.

Caveat eater: The nutrition info is the best, but the recipes are not! :>/

Laura My sister suggested this for the recipes, since I have to be gluten, dairy and corn free. She lost tons of weight on it. I need good recipes for a picky eater, but I do enjoy organic meat. Now I'm wondering if this is the one for me.

Jeanette (Ms. Feisty) Can't recommend it for a picky eater, Laura. Your best bet would be to get cookbooks from the library, one at a time, and try a few recipes from each until you find one that suits your taste. I like Robin Robertson's Vegan Planet, but I know some people who hate that one. Of course, vegan cookbooks will be dairy free, but not necessarily gluten or corn free.

Laura Right. Thanks, Jeanette.

Kathleen Thanks for this review Jeanette, this is in my cart now. And big thanks for the heads up on the recipes! I'm wondering if you have read/recommend his subsequent cookbook?

Hi Kathleen,
I have read a couple of his other books, but I don't remember as much about them. I think all of his work is impeccable based on the current research at the time he writes the books. This was the one I used for motivation for a long time, so the info from it sticks in my mind. The other books get a little more complicated, imo.
